Sean Avery, hockey star to the Rangers, started his internship at Vogue this past Monday. But according to WWD, it seems the man is already getting some special treatment. Not only is he sitting in on meetings, helping with every department, and going to the couture shows next month, but apparently he's earning minimum wage for his time, too. That might not sound like much to most people, but keep in mind that almost every single other intern there not only doesn't get paid at all, but usually ends up actually paying to be there (as I, dear reader, did three times for Conde internships). Conde usually requires school credit for interning, and if you're an NYC college student, you already know that a four-credit internship usually rings in around $4,000. Did I mention Sean Avery earned $2 million last year? I hope he gets sent to Starbucks every hour. (On a side note: did anyone else catch Sean's picture in the June Vogue? He's flanked by Chanel and Behati on page 78. A Men's Vogue cover is definitely in the works...)
