"Headbands...what a tough accessory. When they are right, they are really right and when they are wrong you're Loverboy." - The Sartorialist, on Blair Waldorf's preferred hair ornament

That's what I love about the Sart.
The girl in his blog today is no Mike Reno (lead singer of Loverboy).

Headbands are totally tough. I was watching the fantasy cake challenge on the Food Network last night (I know. I'm a dork. Sue me) and one of the judges had a black and gold velvet swirl of a thing no her head. It looked like she was reject from the Ren Fair. Also, at a club last Friday, this chick had a piece of ribbon tied in her hair. It looked like she fell head first into a kid's birthday party. Not as bad as the lady from the Food Network, but sheesh. I think only Carrie Bradshaw can get away with headbands.

you know, i know headbands aren't right for everyone and every situation (see above-mentioned food network judge...and PJH, that "ren fair reject" is a great assessment- i've always wondered WHY she wears that!) but i have a few relatively simple headbands (one bronze, shiny, not metallic, and one black faux alligator, neither more than 1/2" thick) and they really come in handy when trying to polish up an outfit. granted, i'm still in college, but they help me look a little more put-together when paired with a loose bun on days i don't have time to re-wash and blow-dry my curly hair because i have to race to class or a meeting.
