"However this story shows what a great model Eva is...[She's] taking advantage of the props at her disposal. Her right hand gracefully holds her cigarette. She is aware of the dangers of smoking but doesn't care." - Women Management Blog on Eva Mendes' Steven Meisel Vogue Italia shoot.

i think the quote epitomizes what it should mean to be a model. being able to give off a certain attitude without saying a thing.

I love it. 1:30pm thinks Fashionista is posting for Their amusement.
Blog Etiquette: Only comment if it contributes to the discussion (or prepare yourself to be mocked mercilessly).
"who is this?" "why did you post this?" contribute NOTHING to the conversation.
Thank you, that is all.

No offense, but what 'certain attitude' is she giving off, exactly? "Smoking is awesome, even though it hurts one's health"? If that's an attitude, it's one which I give off just as gracefully every day, several times a day.
I laughed out loud when they referred to the cigarette (indirectly) as a "prop".
All in all, guest 1:20 is right. This is a really stupid quotation, possibly the stupidest one I've ever heard regarding modelling. I'm gonna give the editors the benefit of the doubt and say they found it too ridiculous not to post.

anyway... Eva is Gorgeous in this shoot. Not a fan of the cigarette as a prop but still. Hot.

really? epitomizes what it should mean to be a model? I gave the bloggers a little more credit and thought they were commenting on the ridiculousness of the analysis, given the dangers of smoking. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. I love Steven Meisel. Don't care if there are cigarettes in fashion photos. Don't think its the smoking that makes them glamorous.

thats dumb.
everyone who smokes knows the dangers of smoking and doesn't care.
i've never really hated the glamorization of smoking in fashion... but the fact that they analyze it like this makes it seem so contrived.

I am taking the position that this was too ridiculous a quote not to post...
I'd also like to think that if you objected to a posting you would be able to add to the conversation...otherwise it's not just the quote that comes off as looking stupid.

I agree with guest 6:21. I thought the POINT of posting it was that it sounded sooo ridiculous! I mean it was such a cheesey thing to say, let alone WRITE on an open forum. I love it.

Louis...obviously I have contributed to the conversation a bit more than you expected considering the amount of comments that have been posted in regards to my comment. It even prompted you to post...

I hated eva's italia shoot. she looked like a tranny, and it wasn't appealing on any level. who cares if she's holding a cigarette and it makes her look "cool"...

amen! why is eva mendes doing an editorial in italian vogue in the first place???? again SO SICK of actresses commandeering precious pages that rightfully belong to the models. god! enough! and i'm so sick of the controlled hype about cigarette smoking. we all know it's bad. so is alcohol and just about everything else. when they take cigarettes away, they take our freedom as well.
