Is The New: Legos and Bunnies

May 20, 2008 @ 1:01pm

karl's lego lady.jpgReader Marina just sent us a copy of the Camard auction house catalog and we scrolled through to this Karl Lagerfeld designed, Chanel sunglasses wearing Lego lady.

We laughed and laughed and laughed until we caught sight of the 3,000 to 4,000 euro price tag, which we don't think is funny.

We're all for playful fashion-y toys as a reminder not to take the whole thing so seriously, and we actually loved the plastic teddy bears in the Fendi windows last month, but selling a two foot tall plastic toy for three times more than a Chanel 2.55 bag seems absurd.

Unless of course Karl painted over a solid gold figurine that holds a key to the Chanel archives.

Because we'd totally scrap together six grand and not eat or shop for a year for that.

Thats actually a bear brick and they are a very limited edition, which launched in the Chanel store windows last spring. They actually sell for upwards of 10,000 euros if you can get your hands on one. Karl also did Fendi bear bricks this season. They are highly collectable and sought after.

Hah, you should perhaps refocus a fraction of the attention you devote to fashion toward the rest of the world, or at least the pop art scene. There's a reason these things have that kind of price tag attached... and making fun doesn't make you seem clever, this is less a case of the emperor lacking clothing than it is the blogger lacking culture ;)

guest at 7:51, WOW. if knowing about these ridiculous things makes me more cultured, I'll pass. That's the most insane thing I have read all day, congrats!
