Natalie Portman Covers Vogue's Fall Issue

May 23, 2008 @ 11:34am

Nattie_Vogue.jpgKate Moss may have Vogue's August cover, but the magazine has chosen someone else to hit their Fall Fashion issue:

Natalie Portman.

The actress spent all of Wednesday on a shoot for the magazine, surrounded by stylists and vegan goodies.

But we wonder whether all the clothes on set were vegan, or if bits of wool, silk, and leather made their way into the dressing rooms.

Obviously, expect a lot of Stella McCartney, but also look out for the interview, where Natalie will display her obvious charm and intelligence and also - hopefully - explain how she went from telling the press that she hated fashion to starting her own line of overpriced shoes.

Of course, since this is Vogue, the shoes will be called "affordable," but that's another story.

We really do like Natalie (seriously) and can't wait to see the supercool cutie, and excellent role model for women, on the cover... but please rush the Kate Moss issue first!

Well the proceeds from her "overpriced line of shoes" went to charity, so maybe that explains it.

I love Natalie! Here is a woman who is truly eloquent and smart as ever. For Elle I'm pretty sure she went vegan all the way... hopefully she doesn't bend for Vogue.
I hear you on the shoes though!! Overpriced much?! I wish she had gone for a more affordable/available line, really expected more from her in that sense. I don't like the idea of her creating such an exclusive line :(

Natalie explains her motives for coming out with the vegan shoe line in this Elle.com behind-the-scenes video. I thought she was articulate (as always) and pretty modest about it. http://www.elle.com/coverstory/13727/natalie-portman-elle-april-2008.html

I thought she just said she hated talking about fashion.

i think the match with te casan was perfect, but i was a little unsure how i felt about the peculiar similarity to lanvin's shoes, especially since she wears lanvin so often.

i like natalie but she always has this attitude like she's above fashion and can't be bothered by it or something so i really don't think she deserves such an important issue on the most important fashion magazine in the world.

kate moss on the other hand will rock the august issue, she always does.

i doubt she avoids wearing silk and wool...leather i can understand, but I don't think that amazing white givenchy number she wore the other night was 100% synthetic...

Veganism and fashion together don't make sense to me. I can't imagine how boring that shoot will be without the handbags, clothing and shoes I love to lust over (which happen to be made of animal derived products. Love it or hate it; that's fashion). Come on now, this is Vogue, not Peta2!

I'd guess almost every evening gown she wears to events is silk. I'm sure it's really difficult to find ones that aren't though, so that is a valid issue. Has she ever been quoted as avoiding wool and silk? (even though she does classify herself as vegan)

Natalie Portman! I like her so much. She's stated in interviews that she loves fashion (and is good friends with 3 designers) but she hates how it's always the main topic concerning actresses.

Personally, I like the shoes she designed, though I couldn't afford them. I heard that vegan-friendly fashion shoes are not only difficult to make, but are usually expensive as a result. Or you can get really cheap shoes at department stores that are vegan-friendly but not suitable for formal situations. So, you know, either massively expensive McCartney-style shoes, or Target. Sucks.

Kate Moss is such an icon. But for the past year or two I've sort of gotten over her as a model. I don't feel like she's relevant anymore. Everytime I see her, I just see a woman trying to keep a hold on what she had. Maybe it's because so many girls flooded the market that look exactly like her. I guess that's the problem with starting a trend, though, huh? You aren't unique anymore.

I think Natatlie Portman is a good actress but I think models should be back on the covers of Vogue. It is always nice to see a model on any fashion magazine these days.
