french playboy pull.jpgDuring a transitional period of my life, I enjoyed a brief stint as a wardrobe stylist for Playboy magazine - also known as the most ironic job ever.

It was probably the most fun job I've ever had - deciding which frilly pieces of lace went with which table top, kitchen counter, couch, pool table... you get the idea.

Believe it or not, naked girls have been popular since long before Dita - but they haven't always been "in fashion." But now I can name a handful of lingerie designers (it's funny to think that Kiki didn't even exist three years ago) who one-up plenty of designers on the runway, and even mega-store Sephora now has a pin-up campaign.

Lingerie's been on the mainstream mind since Marc's Spring 08 show, since burlesque took over the LES, since Kate Moss for AP, since that Playboy France cover shot by Karl - but I've been taking notes since puberty.

So that's why I'm so excited to see lingerie and pin-up get their due with a real-life fashion model - continue after the jump to see Anouck Lepere, and witness just why Playboy France might soon be getting more fashion props than Vogue.

Playboy France seems very conservative. I find that surprising. Does it always look like this, or is it just because its Anouck?

You'll be a great addition to their staff when we both move into a hole in the wall in Paris next year!

i HEART french playboy! did you see the lou doillon one? considering every single fashion magazine now shoots the models naked for about half of every story, i don't really see much difference.

Hey Katie -

Of course even in PB Frace you've got your usual plain old boobies, butts, and naughty bits (omg ew!!), but after a reimaging in 2007, every issue seems to have a solid "fashion-y" spread!

It's great!

My favorite model. She deserved this. Absolutely stunning. And I loved that Rankin photographed her!

Oh to shoot for Playboy France, sigh, someday? I've been obsessed with their model covers lately. So so so good.

Those pictures are so amazing and beautiful.
I didn't realize that there would be more artistic content in French PB.
It seems so much more refined than the American version (just my opinion).

can you imagine if american playboy started looking like this?? american men's heads would burst! "but.. but her boobs are... real?? and she's not like.. super tan?? this does not fit into my media hyped standards of beauty...!" :)

(personally i like the french take much better, but then it hardly could be classified as a 'nudie mag' if this is how all the spreads (pun?) become!)
