I've got to start buying French Vogue more.
Their layouts are so much edgier and irreverent. I know they're not for everyone but I just love them.

This is completely random, but is she bleeding in the first shot? No, Lara!

I think that's the point. She looks like a wreck. It's the downward spiral of the wayward starlet.
When editorials try to have some sort of greater meaning, they usually fall flat on their faces; this one doesn't fall quite so sharply. They have Ms. Stone to thank for that. A lesser model would have made this disastrous.

I know this is weird, but I love that French Vogue always features models and actresses smoking.

Yes, marybelle, that is weird. Or at least it was a weird thing to say.
& I agree with Jacqueminette, the whole point of the shoot it the bad makeup and weird settings.
It's supposed to create a "mood" and portray a "message"..which clearly they did not get across as well as they'd wanted to I'm sure.

yeah, once again girls it's fashion! which equals art which thank god the europeans still believe in! it's SUPPOSED to be edgy and strange! god are you all stupid? and that close minded? if so then stick to american fashion magazines. it's really irritating how often on this blog i am forced to rub elbows with really prudish fashion lovers. what is the point. if you can't see the beauty or artistic value of this editorial then you have no business on this website! go read allure and call it a day! and yes THANK GOD SHE IS SMOKING!!!

Thanks mclare for clearing it up for us [eyeroll], even though I agree with you. I love that European magazine ESPECIALLY French ones really present a drastic beautiful edge to fashion. I really enjoy the thought provoking un-cliche spreads - it is never about traditional beauty or concepts. I often find American Vogue, among others, tasteless, dull, and uninspiring. In fact this spread really intrigued me so much I can back to look again.

She's not at her best here. I don't know who did the makeup here, but they sure did their best to make it as unflattering as possible. She looks too pale, with that ridiculous lipstick, and the attempt at that smoky eyeliner was such a botched job, it looks like she has dark undereye circles.
