paquin did not start her company until 1891...lanvin beat her to it by a couple of years, 1889 to be exact...
funny that they both had the same first name...

ok...let me amend my answer by saying that, before 1908, lanvin was mostly doing millinery...so, i guess if you're talking strictly about clothes, then paquin is right...kind of a grey area, but i'm not too much of a douce to admit when i might be wrong, haha.

Lanvin, and it's also the oldest extan, ie running fashion house in Paris.
