Streetwalker: Double the Fun (Flowers Not Included)

May 30, 2008 @ 11:57am

double the ful streetwalkers pull.jpgKate, shopgirl for Lyell (at left), Jo, shopgirl for Mayle (right)

Got Them: On Mott St, after leaving the florist.

Stalked Them: Because Kate's tights and Jo's shorts/shoe combo made our heads whip around as we walked by

Shot Them: So many reasons actually: We loved Kate's braids, Jo's specs, the high-waisted tucked-in look, and because they look like an Anthropologie catalog come to life - plus, this is the second time we've spotted similarly dressed friends on Mott.

They Say: "We didn't plan it, we just happen to dress alike a lot."

We Say: You guys need a theme song.

Love that you take normal cute girls not designer clad and put up their pics!
That is what style is about!

They are wearing designer clothing--all of it is Lyell. Also, Jo works at Lyell right? Or has she just moved to Mayle very recently?

okay
just one minor problem with the gal on the left - I wish that the pattern of the tights went all the way to the top

Yeah, I'm not really feeling this look. It looks like a picture of my mom and her friend back in the late 1970's/early 80's.

They look to me like victims of the granny/fugly/cute style that urban outfitters has perpetrated.

I don't really understand the appeal.

so weird - i saw jo this morning at gimme coffee on mott and noted her creative getup. looks like she's still drinking that coffee in the picture... ny is a small world, after all.

I think its pretty generic hipster-ish (maybe I've just bombarded too often with Lula and Urban Outfitters catalogs) BUT they still look adorable! However my goal in life is to look like my mother in 70s polaroids, so there you have it.

You guys this is so ugh. Show something BESIDES lame hipster look. Just because Marc Jacobs says its amazing, doesn't mean he's right. I mean he's basically shown the same collection for the last 5 years anyways.

they would have looked cute in the 70s/80s but not now. also those glasses are not really not flattering. i have to agree with guest @1:21pm

I think the looks are sort of cute. The fact that it really is very urban outfitter/hipster/every young person these days deters me a bit from these looks. I like hearing opinions from males that aren't hipsters about these kind of looks. Normally, it's that they look granny and frumpy, though girls seem to have a completely different perspectives.

I know they look like they just stepped out of an urban outfitters catalog like many said, but I still think their outfits are cute and summery. At least their not wearing god awful gladiator sandals and wayfarers like everyone is with the blouse/shorts combo!

everyone does know that urban and anthropologie are the same company, right? that said, i won't shop at UO anymore but i do adore anthropologie. mostly for their housewares, though.

I think they both look adorable - I have always dressed with a granny chic/70s vibe and I would wear both of these outfits. Love it!

Okay I hope you all realize that Lyell /= Urban Outfitters, and yet you call yourself "fashionistas". Far from it indeed. And Lyell's fall collections is simply amazing. I think they both look lovely.

bleh. I'm just expecting everything on their bodies to smell musty. Channeling the past to create more modern exciting looks- good. Time traveling from the past and keeping the same clothes- bad.
