Would You Wear

Would You Wear a Bathing Suit with Jewelry?

Chanel SwimsuitLast night’s fashion show for Chanel Cruise was a little frilly for our taste, but there was one standout look that made us update our shopping list:

A one-piece strapless bathing suit with ruching on the sides.

We loved the long, curvy look of the piece, which can stand on its own or with a cute pair of shorts and a hoodie, but there was one detail that made us gasp:

The giant black Chanel chains draped around model Liu Wen’s neck.

It reminds us of a Lindsay Lohan paparazzi shot from several years ago (also in Miami), where the actress paired her turquoise bikini with a plastic necklace and a scarf.

Would you wear jewelry with your bathing suit?

Or is that like wearing makeup on a run?

MAYBE if you're just going to lounge around and try look good. But if you're going to the beach and actually plan on laying on the sand and going for a swim.. there's really no point.. I wouldn't want sand to get on my jewelry. So swimsuit plus jewelry would be a no for me.

Absolutely! I live in Miami and down here bathing suits are the weekend daytime wardrobe because it is too hot to be anywhere but the beach! A scarf to hold your hair back and some jewelery and a sundress are the only way to dress things up a bit without positively melting.

well uh.. yeah, why not? i mean if you're just lounging around, why wouldn't you?

now if you're going to throw down with some chicken fighting or beach volleyball, the no - but if you're laying on a chaise by the pool, sure.. but watch out for funny tanlines! :)

I do it EVERY SUMMER! Just wear natural clunky peices in gold or silver. Bangles are great choice. It's especially great for solid colored bikinis.

Is it really so terrible to wear makeup on a run? I wear mascara all the time- you never know who you might see even while you're exercising, after all. :)

I really loved the Chanel show last night. And I remember the exact paparazzi photos of Lindsay that you're talking about which is kind of sad. I think it depends on the girl wearing the accessories with the bathing suit and what situation she's in.

i might, depending what mood i was in. i dont really like sand or swimming so when my family drags me too the beach i suppose some jewelry would cheer me up a bit. but i would stick to chunky jewelry and nothing too expensive (i wouldnt want it to get ruined). although, i think if you are planning to go swimming or run around in the sand its a little silly. but i think if you are just lounging its not like mascara on a run because it wont get in the way and isnt gonna be damaged or washed off right afterwards.

One piece factor: hello!

Finally, young women realise it is OK to wear a one piece! I've been wearing the one piece ever since I can remember And it just so happens to be a strapless one piece with rushing in navy blue ;) I feel great in it. I tried a bikini one summer... never again! Looking uncomfortable and worrying is not a good look. Confidence is what attracts! I have never understood why girls/women feel so pressured into wearing a bikini when they can look so much better in a one piece, especially if they've got a few curves on them.

A one piece is sexy.

As for jewellery - lounging around, go nuts. Swimming like you all say, give it a miss. Just end up losing it.

Yes, I don't know how to swim so I have to at least look good while lounging by the pool and no if i'm trying to get a tan.

I live in Miami and it's perfectly fine to wear jewelry with a bathing suit
