fyi...i just checked out her myspace and she's wearing a pair of gray boots from forever 21...i know because i also have them. but seeing them on her was just a surprise since i'm sure she has more than enough money for a nice pair of real leather boots.

Calling Chanel Iman cheap is a low dig and only makes you sounds cheap. The Fashionista Girls and designers love Chanel because the pieces she wears in runway shows end up being quickly well selling pieces, the sign of a great model. She makes high fashion pieces sell, makes a piece look like the one must have piece. She is keeping high fashion alive. Moreover, I love her passion for it. Her joy of modeling is visible. She's not merely desperate for money, but trying to develop a respectable career. Go Chanel.

People are allowed to think Chanel sucks. I don't see this much of a defense when people criticize Cory or Daisy. You guys sond ridiculous, its obvious you're pissed because you like her, not because it's "immature" to bash her. Please, you can't compare Chanel Iman to Daria, Jourdan, Carolini, Tanya or any other model out there. She is a bad model.

Jac, I don't particularly like her or hate her, (I actually agree with you, she just strange looking), but I do think ranting on an 18 year old, who's done nothing but her job. . . and calling her cheap and unattractive is really immature. In short, it's a cheap shot. You don't have to agree with me, but you certainly don't have to call me "ridiculous" for calling attention to it. The only thing that's "ridiculous" on this site is the constant name calling.

I thought reading the comments I would actually see people talk about the photos in her myspace album. They were typical myspace photos but its cool to see someone young having a little INNOCENT fun.
I understand not liking someone or not seeing the appeal in them, after all Ive never heard of a single person who everyone in the world finds attractive. No one is perfect. Shes a model and is therefore judged by her looks. I get it.
However, regardless of individual feelings, she must be doing something right because she keeps getting booked. And I don't think any ONE thing is 'fashion' or else the 'fashion' would never change and we would still be wearing petticoats. It evolves and changes and should encompass more than one point of view.
So lets keep the conversation intelligent, like im sure we all are, and state our opinions in a way that best showcases us all being mature. Even if we are saying 'I think that girl looks strange and is unattractive.' Let's just end our statements there and leave out the rest. Its not needed and doesnt enhance the conversation.

My problem is with people saying we shouldnt do so because she's just 18 and is doing what she wants to do. I don't buy that, she's in the fashion industry. It's second nature to judge models/designers in the industry and it is RIDICULOUS that people defend Chanel for reasons that do not extend to other girls the same age. And Etoille, you were one of the first to name call, so no need to chastize me.

Guest at 7:31...a bad model is usually considered so if they repeat the same facial expressions, poses, etc. in their photos...basically lacking variety or interest. In contrast, a good model commands attention, is able to portray several emotions and moods, and knows the best angles for her face and body. It basically comes down to talent, personality, and work ethic. The looks of models are different, so you can't judge whether they are a good model or not simply by whether they are drop-dead gorgeous or not.
And I think Chanel is very fortunate to be so successful and I applaud her for her hard work and dedication to her career.

what's sad is you never see comments about the tanya, ekaterinas, or sashas that they suck, are cheap or unattractive. if she's given a chance, she's only going to get better. have you seen daria's old work when she was in canada? eh, not so great...
she's 18 years old! i used to make "fake" ads with pics of my friends and i. big deal. i love that she's passionate about what she does. she's not a vapid, vacant clothes hanger.

I think the 'cheap' remarks have more to do with catty-ness than race. No one would look at Iman (the REAL Iman) and say she lacks cheap, despite her being black, because she has so much class and elegance.
Chanel Iman is very young still, and behaves like a typical teenager, which lends itself to this image of her lacking sophistication. But she's just barely 18 and she's maturing and growing as a model.
I personally am not keen on her either, but I think she belongs there more than 80% of other models you see, who also lack class and have totally forgettable faces to boot.
Anyway, I think that post was by someone who doesn't like her look and expresses it in the most malicious and pointless way possible.

You are trying to compare Daria's work from when she was 14 and inexperienced, to Chanel's Professional work. In no way, whatsoever, does Chanel resemble Daria, and the reason why "you never see comments about the tanya, ekaterinas, or sashas that they suck, are cheap or unattractive" is because, unlike Chanel, THEY ARE NOT. I think you should indulge in some thinking before you take action next.

To me, it's pretty baseless and rude to deem Chanel--or any other model--"cheap." She's young, pretty, and having fun with her job. How many of us can claim that about ourselves?

Chanel Iman ... she has a pretty face and super skinny thing body but I was honestly surprised by her making it this far in the fashion industry. She would be a great commercial or catalog model, but she's sooo not high fashion!
