Let’s call it The Sartorialist Effect:
After years of tiny flowers dotting the fabric of Paul Smith shirts, the motif seems to be stretching into more men’s fashion – most specifically, and surprisingly, into men’s streetwear.
You can find floral guys’ shirts at H&M now, and floral ties at Steven Alan and Urban Outfitters.
But our most surprising find were these red sneakers from Nike, which feature tiny dotted blossoms all over their leather fields, at Opening Ceremony (Ok – so they’re sized for women, but the store purposely carries up to a women’s 12 – which is a men’s 10 – especially for boy shoppers.)
The kicks retail for $125, and if a boy wore them out on a date with us, we’d be kinda psyched.
Would you?

I just bought a paid of NIKE Dunks from Nordstrom that were a like these but the check was yellow. Now, I LUV sneakers (thats my fetish :> ) but i do not want to see some guy wearing these. A females…yes…a dude…NAH!! Sorry!
I love my boys in Nikes but if I saw a boy rocking these? No thanks. Supra did it a lot better, too bad their sold out world wide.
why is it the sartorialst effect I read his blog daily but I don’t see it.
Care to explain??
yeah, I was a little lost with the sartorialist effect comment too.
Did I miss something?
When it comes to men in sneakers, I gotta think : what would pharrel wear?
and he wouldn’t do this… no he wouldn’t..
Simon Doonan is the star of small florals.
There shouldn’t be gender rules for fashion, so I say go for it guys!
i saw a hipster dude trying on the purple floral ones at opening ceremony last week. i was half-pleasantly surprised that he was being adventurous, half-grossed out and questioning his sexuality. and 100% ashamed of myself for not being more open about it.
I think men can wear small florals, I just don’t think I can see anyone wearing them other than maybe K-Fed… and I don’t necessarily say that in a bad way. I just see some guy in cargo shorts, a wifebeater with some letter chain trying to pull these off.
I think you’d have to tone everything down a lot for me to like the look. if some guy was wearing a plain white tee, khakis and these peeking out.. i’d probably like it a whole more than if they were part of some well tailored ensemble.
I think that there are enough great kicks out there that guys shouldn’t be wearing girls shoes. Plus, Supra released a pair of kicks with a partial floral colorway -http://www.sneakerfiles.com/2007/10/18/supra-muska-skytop-floral/ and I think that those are a far better example of a so called “feminine trend” making its mark on mens streetwear.

or maybe liberty london for the last 10 gajillion years seeing as though these ARE liberty print nikes.
I like them and know some entirely straight hipster boys who could pull them off
But I dislike the soul, its all thick and boot-like and I think they could look better, even if that is the design of the high-tops.
I mean sole
ha!
If a guy wore these on a date with me, I’d marry him in an instant!
I’m a guy and got the purple floral ones. I love them. Also, get a ton of compliments from random people on the street. Old ladies, security guards, gay black teenagers, hipster girls, etc.. They’re really comfy too
I think I would be psyched : )
I thought I was going crazy thinking these were the Liberty berry print (also used last year by JCrew)!
Glad hardliquorsoftholes confirmed!
the right guy could totally pull it off, i wouldnt be able to help smiling if i saw him
These are fantastic.
I want to wear them with a dark blue skinny jean or maybe a slim fit corduroy in the same color as the soles. I love.
I think they might even almost look better on a guy ;)
… even though I would totally wear these myself.
If my boyfriend wore these, I would totally steal them from him.
Any idea where I can find these in Europe ?
