The Answer to a Teenage Prayer?

pink dress.jpgI saw Cry-Baby on Broadway last night and it left me longing for a nipped waist.

Actually, I've been longing for a nipped waist since Mad Men debuted last year and since Michael Kors showed perfect Hitchcock heroines and since Caroline wore mint green on Bottega's fall runway.

But I don't have a costume designer at my beck and call, my waist is much too big for most vintage skirts and it's too hot to invest in something from the runway that will just get squished against sweaty strangers on the subway.

So, Isaac Mizrahi's envelope dress for Target will do just fine.

It comes in pink, (which, yes, looks sort of like that Oscar de la Renta dress from Sex and the City) black or buttery yellow.

Add or subtract belts, shoes, jewels depending on the destination and you can wear this dress pretty much anywhere.

Now if I could just get Cry-Baby or Don Draper to take the subway with me, it'd be a swell summer.

They hate target so much that they posted a whole tribute to it when the Rogan for Target Go International line came out.

I lusted after this dress this past Fall-- BUT I hate the back of it. It ruins the classic lines, in my opinion.

Damn! And I just bought a beautiful black one from Calvin Klein.
If only I'd known!
Maybe I'll have to get Isaac's, too ;)

Ha! I have this dress in black to be a bridesmaid this weekend... I also had to buy a petticoat to go under it. I don't think I can fit through conventional doors.

Yet another reason to mourn Isaac's departure from Target.

I was just watching the Cry-Baby movie yesterday morning! It prompted my sister to wear a blouse tucked into a high-waisted pencil skirt when we went out for the day :)

Isn't January Jones (Mrs. Draper) lovely in Mad Men?
I must find out when that show's premiering...

And yeah - what is it with the teeny tiny waists on vintage pieces?

Syako:

Long term collaborations don't have the best track record. No one ran to Kohl's for Simply Vera, Kate Moss for Topshop always ends up on the clearance rack, and even my mom declared Isaac's Target clothes "frumpy".

Post all you want about Rogan. Yick.

What?

Tangent?

I was responding to the post that said that Fashionista hates target.

I was simply saying that if they hated it so much, they probably wouldn't have posted a love-fest blog for Rogan for Target.
