Kim Cattrall Is Not a Sample Size

Jun 09, 2008 @ 3:36pm

kim-cattrall-picture-1.jpg Our favorite piece of weekend information came from a red carpet stylist who said that Kim Cattrall wears a Size Eight.

For those of you saying "So what?", here's what:

Many actresses and publicists of actresses claim their clients have to be so thin in order to stay in the fashion game, since designers only lend out samples, which tend to be much smaller.

But Kim has her pick of fashion labels - Vivienne Westwood and Michael Kors, most recently - and she doesn't look like she needs a quick trip to rehab. Actually, she looks pretty hot.

Maybe this is the start of other working Hollywood beauties worrying less about skinny and more about healthy?

I loved Kim's on quote in regards to clothing " I have never been a skinny girl..." and goes on to talk about clothes that completement her assets! BRAVO!

How can she claim to have never been a skinny girl? She certainly looks healthier now, but during the Sex and the City TV show, she was nothing but bony ribs and shoulders.

I don't know if I believe she's a size 8, because I am and she looks a hell of a lot smaller than me.

We do all know that a size 8 can look diffrent on diffrent body types? The girl that won this cycle of top model is a size 8 but does she look it? My friend is a size 8 but all her "weight" is in her hip and thigh area and if you looked at a picture of her from the waist up she looks like a size 2. Everyone is proportioned diffrent so I wouldn't be so skeptical about Kim being a size 8. By the way what would she ( other than a little press) get out of saying she is bigger than the hollywood norm not many more roles....since everyone including some fashonista readers are so skinny obesessed.

yeah, definitely not sure about that one. i'm a six and i still look chunky in pictures. she, however, looks much smaller in snapshots even though camera adds a lot of extra weight. there's not way she's an eight.

She looked a little heavier(and not in a bad way) in the movie than she did in the series.
She certainly doesn't look like an 8 to me but it would be nice if that's true.

I've met Kim and she is TINY in real life. A size six at the most only because she is a little tall.

Maybe she is big compared to Sarah Jessica Parker, but she is very slim.

yes, she definitely wears an 8...but i wouldn't say she has "her pick" of labels...unless a brand is willing to make something new for her, a lot of designers just don't have size 8 samples lying around...she and her stylist came in to pull a few pieces for her recently, prior to the SATC premieres, and believe me, the pickings were slim...it's even tougher though, for women who may be just a little too large to squeeze into sample size, but aren't quite size 8 either...that's like, no-sample land

Dear ModestoT, Thin is the norm in Hollywood. It's much more surprising to see an actress with meat on her bones these days. So your comment doesn't fly.

I always remember her being really thin on Sex and the City, but she's older now and it's probably much more difficult to get your weight down. Anyways i think she still looks amazing, i hope i look as good as her at her age!

We should all look as good as Kim Cattrall at her age. And, she looks like a WOMAN, not a little girl.

i used to work in LA Fashion PR. They only carry sample size in showrooms, but for a MAJOR premier or awards show, they will make a dress for the star. This would definitely qualify.

The celebs diet down to a sample size or else they don't get free clothes to wear. its as simple as that. Normal, beautiful actresses will lose a ton of weight to get into sample size. Its either that or pay out of their own pocket to buy off the rack, and most don't want to do that.

Kim is slim but not tiny. very fit. Someone like Jennifer Garner, very slim, very very fit and healthy - but probably not sample size. sample size is either tiny like SJP or Sarah Michelle Gellar-types or unhealthy skinny. and yes, the poster above is right, an 8 looks different on different people. I saw Kim on the street the day after the CFDA, looked fantastic, but I think an 8 is right.

Ugh I hate the comments about people looking like women as opposed to little boys/girls. What a terrible insult to people that are naturally slender, lack curves. "You lack the physical appearance of an adult" Come on.

Be skinny, be fat, be chunky, be chubby, be slender, be thin, be like you want to be just make sure you like yourself and your clothes look good on you.

According to a charity auction, the yellow Versace dress she wore in the film is a size 8.

That being said, who cares? People who are healthy (no matter if they are really slim or really curvy) and happy are far better than anything.

You can see her bone structure is larger (look at final scenes from S&C when they all walk together) but that doesn't effect "thinness"---its a matter of SIZE. She is def skinny, duh.

people go the wrong way - by praising curves so much (in order to look like theyre not prejudice ) that they end up offending natually skinny people.
