People Are Talking

Love Is Blind. We Are Not. Ew.

Which editor demanded a peanut butter and cucumber wrap for lunch from her brand new intern? The catch? The peanut butter was absolutely, positively forbidden from touching the cucumbers.

FYI: The intern in question did NOT tell us this. It was overheard by someone else, just in case, you know…

An editor which I would throw a peanut butter and cucumber sandwich at before shouting "I quit" and throwing my hands in the air.

think about it...she asked for a wrap. you put peanut butter on a side of the wrap, proceed to fold the wrap, then place the cuccumber on the new side of the wrap that was just folded and is peanut butter-less. continue the process. it's not difficult to make, just a bitch to order at a counter.

Not only THAT but it's also not the point of this rant.

Maybe this is an evaluation technique and not a random act of cruelty from a fashion-diva...see how quickly and creatively the intern can think and perform...

if it was an "evaluation technique," that's even worse...if she didn't actually want to eat a PB & cucumber wrap (yuck!) and planned on throwing it out.

my guess is the boss of an intern that's about to be fired for sending gossip to fashionista

For some reason the first image popping into my head was that of Sean Avery with a "WTH" bubble over his head

I am in agreement with zapatosnuevos here. I cannot wait until I am in the position to do this to some bright-eyed intern. But I'd be nice about it, and only pretend to freak out when the cukes touched the PB.

I doubt it's an EIC...I agree that the person who did this could be asking as a critical thinking/problem-solving test...and I have to admit, I did not think of the (on one hand obvious but on the other, genius) answer that a previous guest gave. These tests are the sort of thing many competitive companies in competitive fields expect prospective/new employees to take part in. It seems like the sort of thing that would annoy/freak you out when it is happening, but that you definitely look back on and laugh.
