Mondrian, Everywhere

more mondrian.jpgFor reasons unknown, the Mondrian-inspired clothes just keeps rolling in -

First, a reader sent in the DVF dress at left in response to yesterday's Mondrian-inspired finds. Then, Kyle sent us a text saying that he spotted a Mondrian-inspired Louboutin in the window of the FIT museum.

And in our Inbox this morning? A Mondrian-inspired tee from Topman.

What's next, color-blocked sunglasses from Marc?

This probably sounds silly, but i specifically remember one of the dancers from the 60's scenes in Austin Powers wearing a dress with the Mondrian print.

Good as art, bad as actual footwear, imo.

i saw the mondrian loub's on a tiny girl on madison last fall, about a block down from the shop...as gorgeous as they are she didn't look like she was having an easy time!

It's fitting that this is popping up at the time of YSL's death, since he's the originator of this artistic/fashion fusion.

My boyfriend, looking over my shoulder at this post, just informed me that there are also Mondrian Nike Dunks that just came out.

i live in paris, and the Piet Mondrian stuff on exhibit at Pompidou blows you away in real life ... I love that his prints have found their way into fashion at several points over the past decades. I actually kind of love all De Stijl.
Next up in my DVF dress fantasy: van Doesburg's Arithmetische Compositie - gorgeous!

This is a cool look for a tshirt, and maybe a cardigan. Perhaps a chunky plastic bangle.

But a Louboutin? Ahem ..
