I slowly ly started humming Age of Aquarius... with hesitation at first... but then I got all confused and giddy... and, well this piece is brilliant. I absolutely love it. I'm going out to get this right away (along with vogue italia I haven't picked up yet).
Thanx fashionista.
Perfect way to start the weekend!
The 11th photo is HILARIOUS "what on earth are those creatures?!"
LOVE IT

the minimalism idea would have looked great on its own but with the hippie idea? It's just complicated and unecesaary and the two don't mix well together. Just writing it, it seems such an odd combination, and as this spread shows, it doesn't really work. Just my opinion. I'm sure some will love this but I just don't get it.

i too was a bit confused by this shoot, and not only because of the strangeness of the mix of looks and characters.... i guess i've never really bought into the agyness hype. i just don't see what makes her such a fabulous model? to me she always looks sort of lifeless and i never see much complexity to her expressions.

I agree with the minimalism not working with the hippie aesthetic - although the outfits look great.
The thing i found, was that compared to the freedom, fun and engergy of the hair cast and their clothes, agyness and gareth look cold and soulless and asexual - and not in a good way. i start thinking "man that dress aggys in is sharp... but wow those hair kids are having a good time.. i want me some suede fringing and tiedye.." lol!

She really only looks good with a gap in her mouth or smiling.. odd.. when she's tight lipped.. not feeling her..

Yes, it's a pairing that makes you say "huh," but I really like the juxtaposition of simple lines of Agyness and Gareth and the free flowing lines of the cast of Hair. It really makes Agyness and Gareth stand out against the busy background.

I love the spread, I think the contrasts with what Aggy is wearing vs. the fluidity of the hippie lifestyle is corky and smart. Plus Agyness looks bangin

see this makes way more sense than a lot of fashion shoots to me - clearly showing contrast, not some random half naked people being spanked or playing with medical instruments or something totally insane.

haha i totally agree with the comment @ 8:46.
how can you not get it?
it makes more sense than most editorials.
i actually like this, i think that some of the minimalist looks should be more obviously minimalist though.

Jonathan Groff is definitely a hottie. He's the guy who's in many of the pics, notably covered in the American flag. He's playing Claude and was Tony nominated for his performance in Spring Awakening last year. He also filmed a pilot called Pretty Handsome with Joseph Fiennes and Carrie Ann Moss. By the way, if you havn't seen Spring Awakening yet, it's awesome! You must. It won 8 Tony Awards last year including Best Musical. MUCH better than In The Heights, which won it this year.

It's a great juxtaposition, they are the two defining looks of the sixties, the hippies and the mods, so why not throw them together and see what comes out?

i agree, the contrast was great. agyness looked fearless and pushing fashion forward. i thought it was one of the best spreads US Vogue has done for awhile, much more thought provoking than the usual white backdrop.
