It looks like the CW has some direct competition for Stylista this fall:
The Style Network is launching its own as-of-yet, unnamed reality show in which three interns will compete for a position with “a top fashion magazine in New York” by the end.
They’re just starting to cast the show, and the applicant letter advertises that “no experience is necessary” but that interested candidates must be “fiercely passionate about working in the fashion, beauty & lifestyle publication industry.”
There will be upcoming auditions in Los Angeles, Chicago, Nashville and Philadelphia, so please bring your iPhone if you’re planning on trying out!
We’re not sure if reality shows for jobs is the new norm for fashion (is it telling that we didn’t even smirk when we opened the e-mail?), but most importantly, stay tuned for which magazine…
(Full release after the jump!)

hahahaha! let’s hope the contestants have better english skills than whoever wrote this press release.
Do you guys really said “We’re not sure if reality shows for jobs is the new norm for fashion”……….. come on guys we have enough with all these “realy shows” and now you’re calling them THE NEW NORM FOR FASHION, you must be sure they aren’t
More importantly, which magazine is it? Any guesses?
Pretty discouraging that i’m paying money to attend a college and study fashion and journalism to get a job in this industry and it seems like none of that matters now, as long as i can make it to casting calls.
i saw this on craigslist the other day. i might as well apply since my college degree is getting me nowhere.
Believe it or not, most of the contestants on these shows are college educated. Just because they’re chosen to be on a show doesn’t automatically make them unworthy of or unqualified for the position. That said, it doesn’t say a lot about the casting side of things when they can’t even copy edit their own press releases.
I’m ready for season two! Fashion Magazine hires a copy editor! It gets nasty! Commas, semicolons, apostrophes – OH MY! ;)
