Whitney Art Party: People Watcher’s Paradise

dior couture shoes.jpgWhat we saw last night, in between looking at the art, dancing under the disco ball and stalking Moby:

- Doutzen Kroes, frustrated, spelling her name to a PR girl who couldn’t figure out why she was there and if she should let her in. Also, she’s the most stunning, perfect human being we have ever seen in our lives. We are not exagerrating.

- Sean Lennon dancing with an Irina look-alike, who definitely wasn’t Irina.

- Barbara Bush dancing with Derek Blasberg, who we thought was Jack McCullough of Proenza, but wasn’t.

- Model kickball. OK, not really but Coco, Behati, Hana, Doutzen, and Elettra, (all in skintight, envy inducing Herve but Coco), huddled in a circle while their dates/friends huddled in a protective outter circle while Rachel Zoe tried to eye her way in.

- The girl in back of us in the bathroom line, asking Lou Doillon, who was in back of her, where she was from, why she was in New York and how she finagled her way into the party. Weird, because Lou is so beautiful it’s kind of obvious she belongs in all the cool places.

- Vogue’s Stephanie LaCava rocking these Dior shoes (left) like they were her favorite Repetto ballet flats.

- Rachel Bilson, waiting in line for champagne, just like us, checking out Natalie. Yes, Rachel, she actually is smaller than you.

I'm feeling inappropriately attracted to these shoes.. I've heard that a small percentage of people become infatuated (really) with inanimate objects... that's all i'm going to say about that...

Rachel Bilson can kiss fashionista's ass. I think she's outrageously overated for a child with such a large head.
She was probably hating on Natalie because N doesn't lose balance when leaning forward.

I've never understood Lou Doillon's appeal, personally, but she's well-known and I'm surprised someone would be so rude as to ask Lou how she finnagled her way into the party. lol. Did anyone ask this no name girl the same question?

Stalking Moby, ha. Usually it's the other way around, with him lurking after the young ladies.

I know this is fashionista and all, and edict number one here is kind of "thou shalt not question the beautiful people" but I've been wondering lately why it seems that people think its rude not to recognize a famous person. Like, the "no-name" was probably just making friendly conversation. Also, we don't know who the "no-name" was. She could be a brain surgeon or Mother Theresa for all we know. God forbid she not know who an actress/model is.

I'm not trying to attack Brit or Fashionista or anything, its just something I've noticed/wondered about.

I have seen a lot of posts lately referring to Britt, Natalie, and Faran... but I've never seen you girls! You need a page with your pictures and maybe a little about yourselfs! Like did I pick up correctly that one of you works for Nylon? I dont even know your ages etc. I like to know a little more about who's writing whatever I'm reading... Please let us know! Or if anyone else knows where to find this, I'm very curious!!

guest 2:43: we don't think it's rude, we just thought the lou anecdote was cute, esp. since we're in awe. and with doutzen, well if the girl who specializes in fashion pr can't recognize a major model...

What's with the constant Fashion publicist attacks? Not everything you guys do is perfect or liked by all...why do you have to tear apart everything that fashion publicists do? Granted, the girl at the check-in for this is ridiculous for not knowing Doutzen, but enough with the fashion PR posts and comments! If it wasn't for us, you probably wouldn't know half of the information you post on this site!

I think I was the one that made the 'rude' comment, and I said that not because "no-name" didn't recognize her, but because she would actually ask someone how they got into a party? I feel like it implies that the asker doesn't feel like the respondee belongs? and that is rude?

Maybe there was a context I'm missing, but I'm just sayin'...

Voice of reason...

Regarding the fashion PR girl not recognizing Doutzen upon entry, perhaps it's because she worked for the Whitney Museum, not say, KCD. I'm not quite sure if that's part of her job description.

It's obvious that a great deal the names of the fashionistas on the Whitney Contemporaries host committee for the event didn't event see the Biennial and I would be beyond amazed if you anyone recognized even a hand full of the artists who donated works for the silent auction. Just food for thought

I've also heard from two top models that Doutzen is basically the most beautiful woman on the planet...they were both in shock when they met her because she was just so undeniably gorgeous. She has always been one of my favorites and I'm glad that she is even more radiating in person!
