Trendspotting: Half Past Neon

Jun 06, 2008 @ 12:37pm

neon watches.jpgWe all know men's accessories can be kind of dull, especially when it comes to watches. So when there's something new rather than just a stainless steel or brown leather band, I take note.

The neon for men trend that began on the Spring 08 Burberry/Y-3/Moschino runways is now showing up in timepiece form.

Case in point: the bright blue Fred Flare, at left, and Burberry's new Antarctic collection with three retina-searing color options. Even Hermès (sort of) jumped on the bandwagon by using their bright orange on their Clipper Chrono Diver, which will set you back $3,975.

The thing about a good watch is that it works with every outfit, from a tuxedo to a linen blazer to bermudas. Trouble is, they can get pretty pricey, so girls should be very happy that they can get in on the neon look with just $10 nail polish.

Verryyy true on the nail polish comment. glad you haven't jumped on that bandwagon, Kyle. Although the Fred Flare watch kind of makes me think of what you get in those plastic bubble thing at the mall? For 50 cents?

i find men's watches to be infinitely more interesting than women's options. if the faces weren't bigger than my wrist, that's all i would wear.

Colette is selling neon Timex watches in a rainbow of colors. I can't give a link because of the way the site is set up but they are under the style section.

The Burberry one is pretty cool, actually, because it's sort of discreet.

I'm with guest at 1:20PM. Men's watches are so much more intriguing.

Actually, I've always found Men's watches to be a rather interesting accessory as far as men accessories go. In fact, I prefer to wear men's watches instead of wearing a women's watch.
