that looks so ridiculous.
i hate when pants are worn, ESPECIALLY with exposed belt loops, and then a shirt is cinched. it looks dumb on a woman and even dumber on a guy.

prada's version isn't so bad,
but the other ones?
...just no

The Prada model looks so fish-out-of-water. I'm usually all for risk-taking in fashion, but men cinching their coats with belts... just, no.

I don't think most guys would be into this. Maybe Christian from Project Runway or Andre from Vogue...

Guys belt trench coats, do they not?

I think my biggest issue is that the outfits look like bathrobes.

the ferragamo guy looks embarrassed.
"just get it over, get it over. keeeep walkin. we're almost done"
i bet he barfed promptly after getting backstage.

I'm a male and I cinch blazers, cardigans and jackets with belts all the time. I don't understand why it's such a fuss--men want flattering shapes just like women do, and belts bring together looks in an amazing and stylish way. Overseas, men wearing pieces cinched with belts are an afterthought; it's a shame Americans are so late when it comes to fashion.

the idealized vision of a woman is of a tiny waist and rounded chest/hips...

cinching a man's clothing to create a tiny waists implies men should also ideally be smaller in the middle than everywhere else. not for me, please!

also note, this is so not the same as a belted trench coat, please do not even compare the two.

I'm sorry, but I just cannot envision anyone I know, even the skinniest prettiest boys, wearing this...

Cinched waists are coming back...but these selections are perhaps the most atrocious ones out there. British GQ had a style issue out with a lot of high-waist suit pants with a belt and a t-shirt. Very minimal, sleek, and refreshingly girly masculine. This gave it a cinched waist look...but in a manly and utilized way. These look like a dreadful, half hazard job from the stylists backstage. Perhaps even from my beloved Rachel Zoe? Don't think so, but I wouldn't be surprised.

And I agree with guest 4:09. Women can get away with the belt at the waist because it's form fitting to the morphology of a woman. This doesn't work so much for a guy.... It just seems like a lack of creativity. Not to mention, the hole empire, cinched at the waist, trend is getting too overplayed for my tastes.

How bout we just wear potato sack dresses and a ice bucket and slap on a chanel tag like Lucy from I love lucy?

Although I like the idea of androgynous dressing... I don't really see this trend transcending to the streets. can anyone imagine regular men with the desire to cinch their waists?!

why is everyone acting like this is such a weird concept?
yes, the styling in these particular selections is a little strange, and maybe pink suede croc would not be my material of choice...but have none of you ever heard of a trench coat before? a belted waist is as natural and classic an idea for men as it is for women...

"also note, this is so not the same as a belted trench coat, please do not even compare the two."

Good argument. Long coat belted to show that the man still has a waist. No similarities at all.
