Chanel's Spells

Jun 16, 2008 @ 9:00am

emma watson in chanel.jpgHermione, um, Emma Watson, is the new face of Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle.

The 18-year old, who's signed with Storm modeling agency, has worn Chanel in public for as long as we can remember but this is the first official partnership between the two. And aside from the copious amounts of dresses and shoes she'll surely continue to earn, she'll be paid a sweet $6 million.

The contract will reportedly be announced next month, right before Keira Knightley's contract runs out, which will make Emma, the youngest girl to grace the cover of Teen Vogue, the youngest face of Chanel.

So Karl, please dress the girl in more than just a bowler hat.

Update: Oh no! Chanel says that Emma for Coco Mademoiselle is "100% not true." So sad, we thought she'd be cute.

I heard about this on the radio this morning. I'm really quite excited for Emma, and I'm glad to be done with Keira and her emaciated toothy self. E seems a lot more fitting, go Emma!!

Well, she's a poor actress so she might as well be pretty while wearing fabulous clothes.

I haven't watched the Potters, but this girl is a little uninteresting for me. Kiera had a good face, albeit a thin body.

I think Keira would have been WAY better. Oh well, whatever can we do.

Aww I would have liked to see her in the ads... she's so pretty (and very different from Hermione, IMO).

She's just too young. People always talk about older women wearing inappropriate things, but what about much younger women? what about girls and what they wear? In general, we don't want girls looking like hookers, showing too much skin, etc., but girls also shouldn't be draped in thousand dollar dresses, running around in CHANEL No.5.

^it was supposed to be for coco mademoiselle, which is for younger girls so i don't see how it would have been inappropriate. though in my opinion it simply wouldn't be appealing. i wish kate moss would return.

I like keira, kate, and emma!! Good thing chanel has more than enough ad campaigns to go around!

(well, not enough to get around to me, but enough to cover plenty of pretty-girl bases)

Karlie Kloss is 15 (my age, actually!)
i believe Emma was 14 when she was on the cover of Teen Vogue.

Thank God that turned out to be a false rumor that she's the face of Coco Mademoiselle. I like her as Hermione, but let's get serious, this is high fashion and she and 90 percent of the actresses we see all over mag covers and ads have no place in that space.

Wasn't Vanessa Paradis 18 when she was the face of Chanel back in the nineties?

I hope that she doesnt become the face of coco madmoiselle, because i completely do not see how anything about her represents that fragrance. She smells like a smelly harry potter. If she were to be the face of the fragrance, i would just think harry potter, which is not what i want to be thinking of when i see anything by chanel.
