I can’t stop buying bathing suits. Even though the closest I’ll come to taking a dip this summer is spraying myself with water after tanning in Washington Square Park, I still keep a (growing) pile in my closet.
So while perusing Topshop’s swim section today, I came across another very cute suit. Love at first click. The skinny blue stripes are a little bit nautical, the bow is just girly enough, and the whole look is very ‘I’m vacationing on my yacht this summer.’ But my next thought was, would I actually wear a cutout one-piece?
Sure you see lots of these suits strutting down the runway or in some impossibly luxurious magazine spreads, but in real life? Paris Hilton’s a big fan, which might tell us a little something, but I’ve never actually seen one on a real chick, in real time, and I’m not sure how I would feel if I did. There’s something about them that comes off as over-the-top, or rather silly – and think of the tan lines!
I think for now, I’ll hold off – maybe I’ll get it when I purchase that yacht.
But more importantly – would you wear one?
