The new Guess? ads are out, and they’re great, but a little bit sad.
After all, if Amy Winehouse were healthy, she’d look exactly like this picture of a sultry beehived babe, as embodied by Aussie model Nicole Trufino.
It’s clear Guess? is taking a page from Karl Lagerfeld’s latest Cruise collection, which was based entirely on Ms. Amy and featured Coco Rocha wearing yesterday’s eyeliner and hair more teased than a nerd in eighth grade.
We like the direction where Guess? is going, straddling their pinup girl heritage with something more music-infused and borrowed by high fashion.
Maybe for Fall, they’ll make it look like Duffy?
It looks like Behati isn’t the only one with a new Victoria’s Secret contract:
We spotted this tiny picture of Chanel Iman modeling in their PINK clothes on the VS Website.
Chanel told Teen Vogue back in March that she was working on her body because she wanted to be a Victoria’s Secret Angel -
Now it looks like she’s right on track.
Also note that Chanel isn’t the only darker beauty getting shot by VS:
Another new Pink chick is the gorgeous young Swedish model Sabina, from Ford!
Joanna, landscape designer and Karen, casting agent.
Got them: Heading to our favorite bagel place on Prince for lunch, we had to chase them down.
Stalked them: Because it’s seriously hot outside and this duo managed to stay cool and cute in breezy dresses.
Shot them: Because we love a good sailor dress and Karen’s definitely hit the mark – the bow added just enough girliness to a very nautical look. Meanwhile, Joanna’s dress looked impossibly breezy and comfortable. We appreciated the crisp blue while her eclectic necklace brought the right amount of interest.
They say:
Karen: “I actually got this dress at Forever 21!”
Joanna: “And my necklace is from Morocco…”
We say: Where were we when Forever 21 was selling such a cute sailor dress? And where can we buy a ticket to Morocco?

Love Is Blind. We Are Not. Do You Need Directions?
By Faran KrentcilWHICH not-quite socialite has her polite publicist pitching writers on “her favorite places to shop in Brooklyn?” This would only be mildly annoying, except the girl has never even been to Brooklyn.
To be honest we were sort of waiting for this moment.
Ever since Luella’s eclectic punk Spring 08 show, the collection has been making ripples through retail stores. First, there was the resurgence of floral ra-ra skirts, and the prominence of cat-eye glasses, then the sudden popularity of neon Docs. So it really came as no surprise when Topshop put up this replica of Luella’s yellow and black batwing tee.
Besides the label, we really can’t tell what the difference could be between the two – both feature black batwing shapes of exactly the same size up against the same shade of yellow. And between the rest of Topshop’s collection (read: floral ra-ra skirts, neon doc martens, punked up prom dresses), the London shop seems to be taking a lot of ‘inspiration’ from Miss Bartley.
Then again, we’re not exactly sure if Luella can claim rights to a superhero symbol that’s been around for decades…Still, she got there first this season.

We don’t really read Glam.com – too much pink – but this is interesting from a business standpoint nonetheless:
The web conglomerate is almost ready to launch their own British version of the site, presumably called Glam.co.uk.
The new venture will be helmed on the editorial side by Ally Pyle, the super-cool staff writer from Vogue.co.uk, and should be up and running by London Fashion Week.
The new addition comes as Glam’s US editor – and, confession, one of our favorite women in the business – Susan Cernek leaves to work at Glamour. Susan used to work for Anne Slowey at ELLE with Jenny Feldman, who also works at Glamour now, but that’s a whole other story.
Anyway… British girls, you’ve been warned: Lots of pink is coming at you!
Lady Grey’s Brooklyn studio is stacked high with metals, chemicals and found objects from an abandoned pantyhose factory on Brooklyn’s Dead Horse Bay.
Among the warped bottles and welding tools is a collection of works in progress, works past and various experiments in metal that looked scary to me and calming to them.
The designers, Sabine LeGuyader and Jill Martinelli, met at art school, had similar style and moved to New York two years ago to kick start their line. Since then, they’ve been featured in, among others, Nylon and Purple. Their jewelry’s sold at Curve, Earnest Sewn and a couple of London boutiques.
I swung by their studio last weekend to find out how two girls get their jewelry on Ashley Olsen’s arms and photographed by Jeurgen Teller and what it’s like to try and make it in a city where everyone’s trying to make it.
