An Open Letter to Net-a-Porter

netaporter wishlist.jpgDear Net-a-Porter,

You know we love you. But did you know that we IM each other cute stuff we find on your site all day long while we’re at work? Like many other girls?

Except, sometimes it gets kind of annoying. Like when I want to sign off of AIM, but first I’ve got to click on the four new things that Britt’s IM’ed me, saying that I would love. So I end up crunching that, along with its requisite “Oohh!” or “You thought I’d like that?!” right in before I leave for the day. Same for her. This works even less well when you don’t work directly opposite the person who’s imagination-shopping for you all day, like with friends that live in other cities with different time zones but that you want to let know that a very cute skirt in their size and color just went on sale.

I suppose we could just e-mail each other suggestions, but you know how much people don’t like unnecessary e-mails.

So here’s what: We think you should have a “Suggested Items list”. Picture it - I’m browsing the newest reductions page, I see this McQ dress I think Britt should consider. But it’s like 7:30am, and I’m not about to put this kind of thing in her Inbox. So wouldn’t it be great if I could Suggest It to her? So that the next time she signs in, a little box pops up saying, “Natalie thought you’d like this” along with whatever other suggestions from whomever else, and then maybe we could even send each other little messages about it, kind of like on Facebook?

Think about it. We know we will.

xo

Convenience with just a touch of peer pressure, sounds like a win-win to me!

Sounds like you need to use ThisNext (www.thisnext.com). When you bookmark ("recommend") or wishlist something, it has a little feature that will let you recommend it to someone else. And it works with all web sites.

I've been using it for a year or so to keep track of stuff I see online that I want to buy or that I want to give as gifts, or that I think my friends might like.
