Elletra Is a Genius

The bad news is that Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann, the model and environmental activist, won’t be spending a lot of time in New York this Fall (and after).

The good news is, it’s because Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann is a genius.

We hear the daughter of Isabella Rossellini and face of Lancome has been accepted into graduate school in London, where she’ll study biomedical engineering and applied sciences.

Unless Daria has some hidden past as an organic chemist, this marks Elettra as the most educated spokesmodel in the history of cosmetics, and that is cool.

And anyway, it’s only 6 hours to and from London, so we’ll still get to see her out and about for the important stuff.

I had classes with Elettra years ago at Boston University, and she really is a smart, down-to-earth person. I had no idea about her background until one day a group of us are talking in the lobby of our class building and she says how she's waiting for her mom to come, and in she strides, looking gorgeous, and shakes all of our hands saying, "Hi, I'm Isabella" as our mouths hang open. I still remember her impeccable red lipstick and floating trench coat.

guest #7 - Cindy Crawford dropped out of her chemical engineering degree to devote herself to modeling full-time.

IT seems like a lot of the major models only have high school, and an exceptional few have Bachelor's degrees. A Master's, although becoming pretty common in the normal world, is pretty highly educated for a model.
