Love Is Blind. We Are Not. Take a Memo.

WHICH young stylist makes his personal intern write down every word he says? The intern has no other job than to keep a pen and notepad in hand all day, and write down every single word/thought/idea that he utters aloud.

That's a little pompous. I might understand if it was Alex White or someone along that tier, but he has styled for....Target? Hickey? Is he too important to write his own thoughts down? It's not like people have been doing that for centuries...

why couldn't the stylist carry a mini voice recorder with him at all times? like the ones people use to record professors in lecture? having someone write down every word is self-aggrandizing and ridiculous. and a little obsessive.

If he's too busy to write them down how would he ever find the time to read back through them? Or does he get a second intern to do that?

I was having a discussion about this the other day, and its just not coming to me. Whatever, I'll be back later when I remember with the answer.

Maybe he just talks a million miles a minute like I do. I know that if I didn't type stuff while I'm on the phone I'd forget like, half the stuff I say or think and then I end up reading it later that night. And its not like you can just inturrupt a conversation to be like "just one moment. I had an idea and I have to write it down."

And the recorder doesen't work because
a) tape recorders and digital recorders both run out of space.
and b) both are completely unreliable. You could think you're taping something and then go back and the recording be blank. I've learned this one the hard way.

Anyways, props to him for being brilliant and for being successful and admirable enough to have an intern thats dedicated enough to follow him around, and for supporting the workforce, regardless of if its paid or unpaid. Interning isn't bad. Laurent was an intern, Wintour was an intern.

Chaos is beauty!
