Guest @ 8:57: That's how the shoot is. It's fuzzy around the edges and the photos appear like they're shaken.

Got the magazine today, looks beautiful. Thanks for putting all these up! Good work, Fashionista!

the black-face paint that appears towards the beginning is uncalled for -- it's horrible-the rest is lovely!

fashion is so predictable! I'm sick of these magazines especially Vogue. The color may have changed, but the poses, most of the clothes, and the overall style of the whole thing has remained the same.

I love the "blackface" pics. The makeup is amazing and the girl's expression is interesting. I'm not at all offended by it and I don't know why anyone else would be.

I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of this issue.

i have the BEST vogue italia story.

so i'm walking with my homeboy (who also works in fashion) down 14th St between 5th & 6th Ave. i see a magazine shop. naturally i'm on the prowl. i go in.. & within 10 seconds, the man behind the counter says...

"new italian vogue....? right here."

& two copies later, i'm still in awe. :)

the beauty story is a 100% rip-off of jean paul goude and in and of itself slightly racist and majorly lazy: jp goude's most famous photos are of Grace Jones, she of the miles-long limbs, androgynous presentation, razor cheek-bones and BLACK skin. he is also famous for the elaborate props and body-gear he featured on or in proximity to his subjects. i realize that to some degree or other all fashion stories are derivative, some less evolved from the original idea than others. this story falls disappointingly - socially and aesthetically - into the latter category.

Went to my four most reliable newsstands in Manhattan early this morning and three of the four were completely sold out by 830am! Finally happened upon them in my final newsstand and bought two copies. The Sesilee cover and the Liya cover.!!!!! Yay! :)

Can I ask why Arlenis' Lancome news suddenly disappeared here and on NYMagazine? What's going on? Lancome PR at play? Say it isn't so!

Great pics BTW. Why Jourdan is so sparcely featured?

So this is what it would look like for a change. That was a strange-awing moment I had there. We're so used to seeing a huge majority of European and Caucasian models in Vogue, W, etc. It's only now that I've got the chance to see all these beautiful Black models. This should be the norm. Multicultural faces. Not just the Black models, Asians, etc. We can take a break from the so-called "norm" the fashion industry has decided to be.

Great scans -thanks! Now I can keep mine sealed for posterity. (But then, what do I do about the free runway supplement? Hmmm.) J'agree, that story is very Grace Jones but I still think it's great. Iman is the hottest! Where is Naomi? (Can't stand her myself but thought she would be in there?)

Can we discuss the REAL issue at hand: the gorgeous black models are not featured in VOGUE ITALIA's ads? Sure the cover-to-cover spreads are appeasing and may quiet a few. The art direction of them are largely uninspiring. AND, I am boycotting this issue. (From looks of it, I am the only one) Here's why: I think the true measure of the industry's acceptance and embrace of models of color is to book them for more major ad campaigns. That is where the $$$ lies. Until then, gimmicks like this, are just press-savvy gimmicks with little to no impact on the problem of racism in the fashion modeling industry. Nice try VOGUE ITALIA, but I will not buy the HYPE. That's all.

i love how rich the dark face makeup looked on the girls toward the beginning. anyone an America's Next Top Model viewer? Tyra always bitched and moaned about how her black models hated being put in darker makeup - that they always wanted to go lighter than darker. and now i see why she was bitching! the image of the model with the dark makeup contrasted against the lighter brown skin was remarkable, beautiful, and a great statement. i feel cheated that we don't get to see these beautiful and more interesting models more often.

BUT I STILL CANT FIND THIS ISSUE! please help.

jaja, I totally see your point, but you have to admit that that is the designers and companies' faults, not the magazines. If they had no ads in them then there would be no Vogue, Italia or otherwise. They have to keep their business afloat, so cut them a little slack. And another thing, I love how on every series of ANTM, there's always loads of black competitors, although this doesn't give a realistic pisture of the rest of the industry.

so my one question about this is - it's not ok to rip off a designer and make a discount version, but it's ok to rip off advertisers, people that work at the magazine, etc. and put this whole magazine online for free? seems a bit similar to me in a way...

just wondering...

People are funny, aren't they? Thanks for the scans. They'll hold me until I can get a copy of the mag in my hot little hands.
