Streetwalker: Anna Get Your Gun

Jul 14, 2008 @ 1:40pm

ksubi streetwalker.jpgAnna, 24 Designer for Ksubi Denim

Got Her: About to hop on her bike and ride down West Broadway.

Stalked Her: Because her overalls, wayfarers, and little black bike were an adorable combination. Also, we had to catch her before she rode away!

Shot Her: Because her overalls were a modern take on an old classic that most would condemn to the farm - and who doesn't love a girl on a bike?

She Says: "I love my overalls. They're so comfy!"

We Say: Cute + comfy + bike = a new summer favorite.

is it just me, or is it kindof obvious that the well-dressed people you feature are always fashion-people? are there no normal people in new york?

she's got a cute pose going, but i cringe at the thought of that bunched up crotch looking at me head-on. all of these streetwalkers are quirky, yes, and interesting, but let's not dub them fashionable.

personally, I think this one is a little boring. sorry, fashionista.

also, kudos on not writing 'sea of people' for this streetwalker!

It's not bad: would be way cuter if she had a more modern tank and haircut. Those are so out-of-date, she looks like she could actually be from the late 80s.

its funny that she's wearing overalls and standing next to a bike--two things you would normally associate with youth--but somehow ends up looking much older than 24.

Mediocre at best.
Also, I agree with the first commentor. This feature would benefit from inclusion of people who don't work for the fashion industry.

guest @ 1:50: we stop people on the street because we think they look cute. what they do comes after the fact. just so happens a lot of people who work in fashion live in ny and dress well.

I agree with most of the comments. Not sure anyone over 5 can pull off the denim overalls look. And it may just be me, but I'm tired of Wayfarers. Once you've seen something on every single celebrity for the past year, it gets old.

I'm actually quite surprised that that outfit stood out at all.

It looks really comfortable, but there's something about the form that really bothers me.

I think it's a perfect outfit for a young, suburban Mom, but not a young, urban professional.

if you guys REALLY just pick people randomly and don't zoom in on people you know as fashion interns/store clerks/magazine people, then i would have to conclude that either 80% of new yorkers have one of these three jobs or else they're running around the city in a burlap sack.

the odds are just completely against how many people with fashion related jobs show up on here.

Personally, I think she looks great! She definitely looks a bit worn out but I love her outfit—the shoes, the overalls, the bangles.

And to add to what Britt was saying, the majority of people who work in soho (aka where the fashionista offices are and where most streetwalkers are stopped) are fashion people.

Umm...are you kidding me? Saying that someone looks comfortable does not mean that they look good...and she does not look good. Overalls? Please. And these are unflattering overalls.

worn out?? i think she looks fresh.

its refreshing to see somebody relaxed and wearing comfortable clothing, that is still unique and not like what every other high street troll is wearing.

pairing the vintage denim overhauls with a balenciaga bag, a dior vest (which i have), and the fun bernard wilhelm shoes, i bet she looks a whole lot more cute than all the girls commenting on something im sure they know nothing about.

Fashionista, i think you take an intellectual approach to your streetwalkers. they may not fit the mold of what half your readers think is fashion, but each person (to me) seems like they have a individual take on what there style is and how they portray it.

(P.S. i want her haircut)

very casual, but a little to literal.

She strikes me as the girl that works so hard in the fashion field that she the last thing she wants to do is get all dolled up. I can totally understand that. People in fashion are sometimes some of the most understated folks I know.

Nice idea, trying to modernize the classic, but not at all very attractive overalls.

Everyone is so critical about this outfit...! But I'm sure if it was on every other celebrity in New York or in every magazine people here would be all over it! I think the new (but really old) boyfriend fit jean that everyone is thinking its oh so fantastic- looks stupid!

I'm sure this girl isn't trying to be anything or anyone, she just threw on this outfit because she feels comfortable.

Maybe try it out next time cookie cutters!
