For those of you checking in over the long weekend -
Did you know some VogueItalia images are out already?
The Naomi shoot is on their site, and Sessilee's is on the Major Model Management blog.

this is so beautiful.
I wish there were more spreads like this, regularly in the major fashion magazines.

These are so beautiful! I actually think Sessilee's are more gorgeous than Naomi's! Now that they've got black models, what about all the other ethnicities the fashion industry ignores??

I love the Sessilee teeth picture too. The Naomi story is okay. That whole rich chick look is kinda boring. But the Sessilee pics are amazing. Yes, there's a touch of Grace Jones in there, and some other old school stuff. Little 80s, some 70s, some YSL in the 70s, utterly amazing.

The food looks better than she does in some of the photos! ->
However, the black and whites are perfection! There's only ONE!

The sessilee editorial is fantastic. To be inspired by, and subsequently achieve the glorification of a time when Grace Jones was an icon, is talent. This is fashion.
Naomi's editorial, while undeniably beautiful photography, feels like an unfinished puzzle, it just doesn't come together. Her painfully false hair only amplifies the falsity of the environment, bringing attention to how simple and redundant this theme really is in fashion. And the touch of orientalism (topless, dark-skinned woman languishing beautifully amongst the foliage; half-naked, dark woman with streams of long, black, straight hair lazily laying with peacock feather fan in hand) is disturbing, and certainly not in sync with the idea of a "black" issue, which I thought was meant to glorify diversity. A bit too Gaugin for my tastes.

Did anyone else notice Lisa Jackson from ANTM on the Major Model Management blog? Scroll down almost halfway and you see her as a hair model...

I cannot stand the wait. Here in Paris they say the 9th or the 10! I want to see if for myself.
