Romper Boom

154424_nat_w.jpgWe probably haven’t thought about dELiAs since about the 5th grade when we were still wearing butterfly clips in our hair and henna chokers around our necks. But a few weeks ago, when we stopped a cute looking streetwalker, the brand was brought back to our attention - to our surprise, her outfit was from dELiAs. This got us thinking, maybe we could find something equally cute from this surprising source? And to our incredulity, it wasn’t even that hard!

Case in point: this Safari style romper. We’re big fans of the romper for summer, and this one in particular is really doing something for us. Can you imagine anything more comfortable for summer than a short, loose, one-piece made entirely from linen? We can’t.

Besides from looking extra comfy, we have already thought of about a hundred ways to accessorize this baby. We could totally picture it at the beach with a headscarf and flip-flops, or around the city in gladiators with a skinny brown belt cinching the waist. Plus at $34.50, we know this one’s all fun.

Oh dear, I don't think the linen is a good idea -- I can only imagine how wrinkled the crotch of this would get.

i'm a big fan of the romper, it feels a little silly at first, but it is so fun to wear. i'm also not sure about linen, but i would recommend the rogan for target version. also you boyfriend will laugh at you at first, but then he might think it's sexy!

Okay, I work there. That romper went on sale for $14.99 because the material is horrific. The fit is all wrong, and really, more like a potato sack.

On the fantastic end, Delia*s has got a new president and turned its look around for the upcoming season. The fits are a lot better, the material and quality a lot better, and just much cuter all around, and definitely more grown up.
The new stuff has been in my store for a little while now, and hits the catalog and website and the other stores in about a week.
Okay, my rant is over.

I bought my first romper ('playsuit' as they call it) at TopShop while on holiday in London in March. Yes, it may feel silly at first, and is a pain to bust out of when you need a bathroom break, but totally worth it. At the heart of it, you have to be comfortable with yourself to wear it.

I've worn mine with opaque tights, heels and cardigan in cool Chicago spring air, and flats in the summer. Totally transferable from season to season.

the rogan for target romper is hideous! does not fit well at all. (okay, I'm tall and skinny, so maybe it requires a girl with a few curves, but I think the cut is very bad.) i want one but haven't been able to find any that don't either gap on top or hang at the crotch.

Delias, they've been our secret weapon for years now. Each catalog, there is always one must have - serious.

Isn't it crazy that delias can manufacture something so not fitting for their client base? I mean this has Soho 20 something written all over it!!! I can't picture this on a 12 year old new jersey body. It's just not gonna happen!!!
I saw it online about 2 months ago and drooled for it, but alas to weary on ordering from the website and too far to get to in person.

i'm certain you could fit a 26 year old body into clothing targeted at women aged 17-35.

to the guest at 6:20pm, since when is a romper only for Soho 20 somethings? I see 5 year olds wear them quite often so I dont think there is any age limit to it.
Delias actually comes out with 1 or 2 nice things each season, all of those mall stores do you just have to dig around for a bit.

I am a big fan of Delia's, but I tried on this romper in the store (on clearance) and it fit really badly.

Check out Claire's for some more inexpensive nostalgia; I've found some surprisingly cute things there lately that people ask about.
