Fashion Is Fun

One Act: A Query, a Getty and a Novak

i need balthazar gettys cardigan.jpgFashionista on AIM, Part 33

Brett: Would you dress your man? The impetus being Balthazar Getty wearing Rag & Bone all the time now that he’s with Sienna.

Britt: Ok Cosmo, is that why he’s looking so dreamy these days?

Brett: No seriously, would you? I had this friend who’d pick her boyfriends based on how they’d look with her.

Britt: Um, she might have a problem. I specifically want “a man” who doesn’t know the label in his jeans.

Brett: You wouldn’t want someone who cared about the way he looked?

Britt: I mean, I’d want him to be well put together, but naturally, not because he thinks about it all the time or knows what Karl Lagerfeld sent down his last runway.

Brett: That’s bad in the long run, kiddo. Try explaining to a non-fashion boyfriend why you have to have a McQueen Novak.

I once did too good a job dressing a formerly nerdy boyfriend, and he got too good at it and dumped me for leggy vacuous girls who wouldnt have looked twice at him before his (my) makeover.

Since then, I've perfected the art of dressing my boyfriends just well enough to still be under the radar, but to appeal to me nevertheless. Two birds: they appreciate both looking good and not being overly handled or dandyish, i get a more-attractive but non-vain boy. perfect.

This was actually pretty funny! I'm not into boys that know whats IN style and follows the trends, but i do want him to compliment my sense of style.

Huh. Imagine if a guy said that he preferred "a woman" who stayed in the kitchen. That way, other guys wouldn't steal her and the man wouldn't be overshadowed by her success.

sorry, but (straight) boys who look too put together or stylized is such a massive turn-off. my boyfriend dresses straight out of a wes anderson film, but he has no idea that that's the association i make with him. he couldn't care less and i love him that much more for it.

Brett, I love that story about C. It explained so many of her boyfriends. She really was the Regina George of our school.
