Killer Clowns from Cyberspace

random topshop hat.jpgAs we all know, even people you love can make mistakes. And unfortunately this is one of those situations. We tried to be understanding. We tried to be compassionate. But seriously, Topshop, what were you thinking with this hat?

Is it for an as-of-yet-unannounced Halloween line? Or perhaps some sort of joke we don’t understand. You, yourself, even describe it as a “clown hat;” but frankly, Topshop, we aren’t laughing. We don’t appreciate your attempt at haute clown apparel because lets face it - this looks like a pointy white felt cap with pom-poms slapped on the side. We can’t imagine anyone, clown or not, who would want to spend $30 on this.

But even this inexplicable misstep couldn’t dissuade our love for you, Topshop, so we forgive you. And we’re still beyond excited for you to open your doors in New York this October, just do us a favor and don’t sell your clown hats there.

it's the clown hat that david bowie wears in his music video for Ashes to Ashes...duh
if you're going to hate on it, at least know what it is, otherwise you just sound like a beez

i'm a musician (ugh, does that sound pretentious or what? sorry...) and i think this hat would be pretty darn cute onstage. with all black, of course--little shorts or a poufy mini (the shorter the better), tights, platform heels.
it could be really fun.

and in that case, bastylefilegirl, if you came to one of my gigs while i wore that hat, you actually would be paying to see someone wear it who isn't a clown! :-)

Guest 4, thats exactly what I thought.

I lived in London for 4 months and I was shocked at some of the dressing (in a good way).

it's like the general harlequin trend + luella's pointy witch hats came together for a meeting of minds.

i don't like it, and i hate the fact that it would actually look awesome on the kind of people that can carry off at-first-sight hideous clothes and reinvent them as some kind of genius idea. i am not that kind of person. alas.

yup! London girls will wear this for sure. They are so much more forward and accepting of new and interesting clothing/trends.

How can you call yourself a fashionista, when you have no interest in creativity and self-expression? Not everybody wants to look like a carbon copy off The Hills set. I wish this website had writers who actually knew about fashion outside of what they read in this week's In Style Magazine.

FYI, the hat is sold out.

I'm a a theater geek with a soft spot for Pierrot and Comedia dell'arte in general(love the harlequin trend!), so this could be neat for a costume. I like the fact that it exists, but I'm not buying it. (as if I could! that's kinda funny that it's sold out. maybe they didn't stock many to begin with?)
