Cute Shoes, Cuter Name

cl trottinette booties.jpgAren’t these boots adorable? (Picture them with cigarette pants, now coo.)

But here’s something else:

They’re called “Trottinette” ankle boots, as in trottinette, French for a (child’s) scooter.

Does that mean it won’t be weird if we wear these while scooting around Bryant Park?

Or that it won’t be weird if they’re worn by a 12-year old?

these are beautiful! I love the dove gray and oversized buckle, think they're a little high to go on a scooter with though! I bought a buckled pair of boots from a shop called lollipop in camden passage in london - Roll on A/W....

Didn't CL say these shoes are only for getting in and out of a limo?

i think all his shoes are only for getting in and out of limos. i received a pair for birthday/christmas gift and they were sooooo uncomfortable! and i was really surprised b/c 1. i'm use to walking in high heels and 2. i thought that the more $$ you spent on heels the more comfortable they were b/c they were higher quality. guess not.

sorry. they're not cute. the white piping on the buckle is a little tacky too, no?

I disagree with 5 and 6. I don't think the white piping is tacky at all. It definitely adds a little to the monochromatic grey and allows the shoe to stand out so that its not just another grey boot.

Its an amazing cut and yes they would compliment cigarette pants remarkably.

I sort of figured it was... you know. Trot - something horses do > While sitting on a horse in the process (the throes!) of passionate trotting, people generally wear boots > These are little boots, thus -inettes, and would be > Trottinettes!

That might just be the language barrier though.

I have those boots (bought them last month), and #s 5 & 6, the piping is not white. It's an anthracite color. Much more suited to the grey suede. They are beautiful. but I can say they are very hard to walk in! They are the same last as the Declic, which has an extremely shallow toe box.

I can hear it now the coos as you walk down the street in those boots. However then name... Well to quote the great Shakespeare, "What's in a name?" The boots are well designed, and would look hot with a frump mini, or some city pants!!! The heel is sexy, and the foot covering adds great character. I say there is nothing wrong with youthful excitement and nostalgia!

I want these! Even though I know I'll never wear them because I probably wouldn't be able to walk in them but I still want them!
