Zippity Do Da

zippers.jpgFor too long, zippers have been hidden amidst layers of fabric, disguised in neutral colors - the point being, you don’t see them. But not so this Fall; finally, zippers are having their moment!

And, really, we couldn’t be more ecstatic - nothing toughens up a tight dress like a metal zipper ripping through the middle, like this sweet Vena Cava. And à la Wang, a prominent zipper on a pair of pants adds interest and street cred (bonus points if they’re leather). Of course, zippers on jackets are nothing new but what is, is their unabashed silver teeth (as opposed to discreet black), their extra length, and prominence.

And hey, it’s easier than buttons.

I was just noticing the exposed zipper trend yesterday!

I've actually started wearing some of my dresses backwards when I can get away with it haha

Mayle is doing an AWESOME exposed zipper dress with a print for fall. its super cool. I love this trend and I loved the sandal trend with the zippers from the summer. very punk rock.

I'm actually into the exposed zipper thing because it looks pretty normal. Next year when something else is trendy, i can still wear my exposed zip whatever and not look like I'm trying to keep a trend alive.

the exposed zipper is awesome. it's definitely been around for a while now, but these days it's everywhere from forever 21 to h&m to the runways as you've shown. i blogged about this recently, too!

exposed zippers are so chic, I love them, but what about lanvin and balenciaga? both labels have been rocking the exposed zipper trend for the past few seasons...

It's a little "tough" for me, but J Crew (of all places) has a cute knit pant with an exposed zipper in the back that I think is pretty sassy.

Has anyone noticed that almost all zippers have the letters YKK on it? Just wondering... :)

i love exposed zippers! to commenter #11, they're probably from style.com (i don't know about the vena cava one, though), and #12, ykk is a zipper company. it seems to alsmot have almost a monopoly over the zipper business since almost all zippers have ykk on them.
