We’ve been on a bauble spree this season. From the Operation-inspired Missoni necklace to the huge gems at Vuitton – we’re sort of obsessed.
But we’re not really sure sure how to wear these ornate pieces without looking like Mr. T gone couture or without approaching the out of the question four figure price range.
So when we came across this pretty amazing ring while browsing the new Gap/ Banana Republic / Old Navy / Piperlime website, we kind of fell in love.
It’s $9.50 and the navy and gold color combination could come across as classically royal or a bit nautical, depending on what you wear with it.
So the best part is, when you change from your denim cut-offs into your favorite party dress, your jewelry can stay the same. Oh, who are we kidding – a cool, not-too-big statement ring for under $10? That definitely makes the day.

so pretentious, just call it the old navy website! oh, patrick robinson. the things you do
more alex, please!
how is it pretentious in the slightest? it’s an amalgamation of all their brands, so why not refer to it as such?
while i love cheap jewelry, i can’t stand cheap metal rings that turn your fingers brown/green. and unfortunately with the crappy metal they use, i can’t wear stuff like this anymore. too much h&m/f21 metal jewelry gets tarnished and turns your skin weird colors. i stick to cheap plastic jewelry for now.
Love the ring, but I guarantee it would be too big for me. Despite being fairly normal-sized, I have skinny fingers- or at least skinnier than almost all one-size-fits-all rings (5.5). Booooo. I want cheap jewelry that fits!
The clunky jewelry look can be cool, but only in small doses please and not everyday. There is a very fine line between tasteful and gaudy with these eye-grabbing fashion items and it’s a slippery slope from the chic Paris flea-market look to the imagery of a woman who enjoys watching Maury Povich with the door to the double-wide left open to keep things cooled down. Get it ladies? One other thing. These specialty items don’t work for all girls. So, please, make sure your body type fits the piece to pull off the right feng shui or else those with discriminating taste will simply find you tacky.
