Streetwalker: Let's Fly Away

Aug 21, 2008 @ 1:15pm

alex streetwalker small.jpgMegan, native Australian, Fashion Stylist

Got Her: Chatting with a friend on Mulberry St. in front of Ruby's (how Aussie appropriate)

Stalked Her: Because she was swimming in layers...in the best way possible.

Shot her: Because the dress is a great combo of hippie meets space age, like if Margiela and Erin Fetherston had a baby. Plus, we really love her subtle accessories and sleek bun to balance it out.

She Says: "I had a job interview this morning."

We Say: Isn't V in this neighborhood?

Hmm... it's interesting to say the least. I do like the color on her and the belt adds an unexpectedly nice touch. However, I think the length of the dress overwhelms her small figure and the shoes just aren't right.

A bit overpowering -- I'd like it better if it cut off at the knee or something. Otherwise I think you need to be 6 feet tall to make this work.

She looks like she should be Anakin's mother on that desert-y planet in Star Wars.
I agree that it's too long as well.

Love, love, love the dress! Finally, someone interesting! But Megan, darling, next time you wear the dress, don't wear flip flops. Other than that, great job!

doesn't hurt to smile though

I think she should hem it to above the knee.

Right now the dress kind of looks like the love child of Laura Ingalls Wilder and some hipster kid from Williamsburg.

more girls should wear their hair back like that, if they are at all pretty...

...i can't, I have a widow's peak to rival count dracula, among other things, but other people should do it!!

like the idea of this... not so much the reality. it's too big for her, and ends up looking more amish than stylish. sorry! love the color though!

agree with the majority on the fit of the dress. too much material for her. and i'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she brought different shoes for the interview /:

Swimming in layers? More like drowning, if you ask me. A little more tailoring here would have emphasized the chic downtown-in-summer vibe she was aiming for and been less suggestive of that drabby polygamist sect appearance. Still, it's true that hippie chick look has a timeless appeal!

I don't think they're flip flops, it looks like they're laced at the ankles at least, but still...there's just a tad too much material for her figure, either a shorter hemline or perhaps one less layer on the sleeves, though they do add a certain flowing, whimsical touch to the look...hmmm, not to be mean, but maybe it's just her?

#19 I think you pretty much nailed it with "polygamist sect appearance". The pastel colour and all the layers together are a bit much. The comment inspired me to take a look at the fashion line the FLDS sect started (look here http://fldsdress.com) unfortunately, they don't offer their starchy dresses yet... One can only hope.

Um, no. Are we being punked?

Polygamous sect is right. Stylish it is not.

Uhhmm, can you say grandma? I mean, the layers on top look kinda retro, but the length swallows her petite figure.
