Target, Thakoon, Terrific?

Aug 13, 2008 @ 1:00pm

cutie thakoony.jpgJust ten days after Richard Chai's Target collection landed in stores, Glamour's reporting that the mega-chain's next Go International designer is editor darling Thakoon Panichgul.

We love Thakoon (and do we even have to remind you that we obsess over every collection Target puts out?) but we wonder what happened to the "International'' part of the deal. Almost half the designers have been New York based - and we'd really gotten our hopes up for Jonathan Saunders.

Not to mention Alexander McQueen.

But either way, depending on when Thakoon's collection would hit, and how much of it's inspired by his runway, it could be interesting to see how his sexy librarian aesthetic translates into junior's sizes at Target.

Or not.

Thakoon for Target would be pure love.

I'm so bored with Go International.

I'm really bummed that none of the recent Go International designers have actually been "international." Don't get me wrong, not all of the NY based designers have been bad (ex. Erin Fetherstone's was adorable) but I already see a lot of this type stuff in just about every other store. It's pretty bad when their private label collections are outshining the ones done by featured designers.

Richard Chai's was honestly very disappointing.

Does anyone know anything about Thom Browne's collection for Target? I've been hearing things here and there, murmurs, mostly, intriguing little snackable goodies about mini-minis, one-legged capris, and the much-promised Invisible Wardrobe. If you happen to hear anything, I mean ANY-THING, please post it here. I'm presently drowning in a desperate need-to-know Fashionista cesspool and I need the goods like pronto! Best, ELR

I agree that Chai's was disappointing. The fabrics are terrible! Rogan for Target looked tailored and thoughtful. I hope that Thakoon for Target is well done!

#6- did they say anything about the "knock-off's" in Target? No, they are talking about the GO Line, which are designer goods for less.

Richard Chai's is quite poorly designed and made. I feel like the whole thing is so forced now, there is nothing special about it. I have modest enthusiasm for a Thakoon collection, but mostly whatever.

I've seen the entire Saunders line...please do NOT get your hopes up. It's mostly black frocks (not dresses--frocks) with blah-blah color blocking and cray print blocking. And there are some very...VERY bad belts... You will see, but it's a disaster.

(and do we even have to remind you that we obsess over every collection Target puts out?) Hmm.. that is.. until the collection is out and then you bash it...
