Taylor Wants Miu Miu, And Other Revelations

023.jpgToday, Taylor Momsen’s test shots were posted on the IMG Website.

Momsen was recently signed to the agency’s women’s board, where she joins the ranks of Daria, Stam, and Kate Moss. Except that Taylor is fourteen, and yes, on Gossip Girl.

A source from the shoot - in Brooklyn - tells us that “Taylor was so nice and so cool. She took the subway from her apartment in Chelsea to the set, with her mom. They said they didn’t want to do the usual obvious stuff that a teen TV star would do; they were looking for really high-end things.”

Which means that instead of the Neutrogena and Dooney and Bourke route - as traveled by Hilary Duff, Mischa Barton, and now, Emma Roberts and Vanessa Hudgens - Momsen is reaching for Miu Miu, Chanel, and other luxury brands that move between major models and major stars.

But let’s not forget that up ‘til now, Taylor is basically just a teen soap star. She’s very pretty and seems very cool, but is she aspirational enough - at a junior high age - to sell $4,000 bags?

Someone will probably think so. Stay tuned.

Those are some major aspirations for a 14 years old! I was expecting her test shots to be all smiles and girlie neutrogena and cover girl like, but I'm pleased to see she's going on a total different and more interesting direction, I'm curious to see what's next for little Jenny.

Aww I love Taylor! She is super sweet in person, and also super small. I had to dress her for a show when I worked for a designer and she started crying at one point because all of our samples were waaay to big for her. But she is incredible nice and down to earth. Hope she does exceptionally well!

Um, and how old is Karlie Kloss? I thought you guys were always saying that 14 and 15 is sort of the age to start reaching for those aspirations, because it's too late to break into modeling by the time you're 18+? Unless you're a TV star of course, but anyway, it's not like 14 year olds posing for high end designers is anything new!

i don't really like taylor's look--the pictures are pretty good, but she's just not as high fashion as karlie. i think 14 is a bit too young to have such high aspirations; she should wait a bit. and she doesn't even do runway, at least, not yet. karlie's really young as well (she's 15, turning 16 this month), but she has already walked in a lot of shows, so her being in this spring's nina ricci ad is not as far-reaching.

Hmm, she resembles Clemence Poesy in some of these, especially from the front.
I love how she's taken the high road, stylistically (actual word? who knows). I think, in the past, young celebrities like her would probably have had to dumb down their fashion sense to gain mainstream popularity. But, now that the internet has spawned such a big fashion community, the direction she's taken is just as legit!

While I do loooovve her shots, I still think that she is just a little too young for high fashion brands like Mui Mui and Chanel. Let's not forget how these high aspirations effected so many other teen stars like Lindsey Lohan and Brittney Spears. She may soon become the next out of control recklessly partying over the edge teen tragedy yet again if she gets clouded by the fame and glamour. 15 is such a vulnerable age. I'm just not sure if she is ready for it.....

I looked on IMG's website, and their height limit is 5'7
I do not think it is fair that just because she is a celebrity that she gets different treatment than others, as many girls who aspire to be models are turned away because they are too short (some of these girls are even 5'7). The average height for a runway/designer model is usually over 5'9.
But i still wish her the best in whatever she wants to do :)

I say if she wants chanel, mui mui and the other luxury brands go for it you are never to young to do what you want to do but you can get to old (lauhging) she is very smart to start at an early age, by the way at least when they say shes only 14 they are telling the truth. Eh. Her looks are too generic, and boring. Granted, she's a beautiful girl, I just don't think that high-end designers want girls who look as commercial as she does. And in the first few photos, where she's trying to look sexy, she looks like she bit into a tart apple.

This is just a personal opinion,
but I like her alot better as a model then I do an actress.
She has an amazing facial structure, and I think she could make the most out of it in print work, and I think that IMG will help her alot along the way. True, she still does have alot of learning to do, but she's a smart girl, and it'll likely come naturally. The only thing that worries me is her height, but hell, Taylor Warren is under standard and she's still major too.

All the little girls will ooh and ahh at these pictures, because they all want to be models too. But the truth is, there is nothing remarkable about the photography or the model. These look like jr. high girls took pictures of each other for MySpace. But if IMG sees something in her (other than already being recognizable) maybe they'll pull it out of her in future shoots.

imagine opening a magazine with taylor's pics paired with the logo of a high-end brand. not at all appealing. cheapens the whole thing. a then-lindsay lohan at 14 would have looked even more classy than taylor. if you dont have the looks, it dont matter the age honey.

Aiie. Am I the only one who thought she was a really weird looking little kid? Glad to see that she grew up to be quite pretty.

She is NOT going to do high-fashion modeling. She, like Leigh Lezark, Drew Barrymore, Venus Williams and countless other celebrities is being represented because they're celebrities, not because anyone expects to see them on the runway or in ads for anything high end. She will be doing Teen Vogue and maybe a Pantene commercial or something.

Besides, from a marketing perspective, her image has already been created by her acting agent. It's going to be hard to be a child actor and a high fashion model. The two images are fairly incompatible in people's minds, and her agents at IMG are unlikely to be able to do much for her.

As others have pointed out, she also doesn't have a really high fashion look - she looks too much like a cheerleader-type.

I doubt very much she'll make any real transition to modeling.

Another problem is that having coture and teenage years combined what kind of consumer are you reaching toward because I don't see many teens being able to afford miu miu. Vanessa Hudgens came into fame through the eyes of teens and stuck with that theme for now with neutragena and ecko and has become more popular. I don't see grown women connecting with this girl fashionwise. But she was paid and did what was told so kudos to her.LOL

I think that those some major asspirations for this poor 14 year old....she is very pretty but doesnt seem to have the high fashion-couture look to her...shes simply much too young...if course i can simply say so much about her, because at her age and younger, if given the chance to work for miu miu, or chanel or any of the higher fashion desginers rather than neutrogena or stuff like that, i wouldve lept at it...she needs to work on her expressions and perhaps they can airbrush some high cheekbones on the girl or something...until she gets older, shes not going to match the high fashion credentials...but who knows? Maybe and just maybe she'll add something to that side of fashion. Something valueable. Or maybe she'll just mess everything up. Either way, she needs some work. Good luck Taylor!
