Wang's World

Aug 06, 2008 @ 10:32am

alex wang shoe.jpgThere's a pretty in-depth look at Alexander Wang's new Tribeca studio space in this mornings WWD, punctuated with some very cool bits of news:

1. He's designed his first collection of toweringly intimidating shoes, to premier alongside his Spring 09 clothes and to be sold in only a few of his stores to start.

2. He's designed his first diffusion collection, T by Alexander Wang, a 12-piece range of basic, cotton tops wholesaling from $20 to $48 (James Perse, maker of our favorite tees, should be shaking in their boots right about now).

3. He's been so popular at Barneys that not only did they have to double their buying budget for him last season, but they're giving him his own shop-in-shop there, too.

And as for his show on September 6th, we can expect "marked departure from past collections" like color, dresses and a "Miami Vice-vibe" all styled by Northern Irish stylist Alastair McKimm.

And who said the young kids don't know how to work hard?

The article says he has a new stylist for spring. Wonder if he fired Erin Wasson because of the Bliss Lau scandal?

i love the label, but the word in the industry is that his sister runs the house while alexander goes out. why do you think you see so many late night photos of him out on the town? no actual designer could sustain such a prominent social life...
