Bonjour Monsieur,
We’re two weeks deep into Fashion Month, and we know you’re incredibly busy with your own upcoming show, so we want to make sure you’re paying as close attention as us to what’s been happening on the runway.
It seems as though your stunning Spring 08 collection stunned more people than just us, having made quite an impression on a bevy of designers, both young and old.
We think it’s only fair you charge a petite fee for the “interpretations” of your designs. You should, for example, earn 5% of sales for Jason Wu’s jewel toned gowns, and at least 15% of the profits on sales of Alice Temperley’s one-shouldered mini. We think you might also make a small fortune off sales of Jill Stuart, Ossie Clark and Erin Fetherston, to name just a few.
None of their dresses mushroom-cloud as beautifully as yours, none of the jewel tones seem as rich the second time around, but it’s clear that none of their gowns would exist without yours.
A bientôt!
xo

alright, snippy commenters… who’s going to say it first?
i’m not sure if this is “it,” but i don’t think they’re similar enough to merit a call-out…
The dress on the right looks almost exactly like my aunt’s bridesmaid dress from the 70s… same color, same pleated, billowing skirt. I think hers had some sort of chiffon overlay over the spaghetti straps though.
But isn’t imitation the sincerest form of flattery? In the pictures you show, I see similarity, not blatant rip-off.
Sorry.
that’s just stupid. they’re similar, but not a blatant rip-off. so what, for every designer that creates a quilted bag, chanel should get some of their profit? any designer that imitates something that’s been done a season before are poor designers anyways..
it is true though…i have seen a lot of looks this year that look like lanvin s/s 08
it would actually be “shalom adon nechbad” since alber is israeli…
OH SORT OF LIKE YOUR KNOCKOFF OF THE LANVIN TANK FROM LAST SEASON THAT YOU POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE?
well if you ask me, i’d say it’s two separate designs…i don’t see it resemble in any way…if only it’s because they’re both spring collections and both green coloured gowns…then every designer in the world should be called thieves or idea-takers whatever…

its not necessarily a bad thing that so many collections seem to be inspired by lanvin though. i like how some designers have interpreted a certain look into their own style…its not really a rip off, more of an inspiration
