Grey Gardens

Sep 15, 2008 @ 1:50pm

gray.jpgOne of the most notable trends color-wise from New York's Spring 09 Fashion Week was the lack of color - we overheard a lot of mumbling about the shows looking "very Fall" which we think had a lot to do with the muted, sometimes morose, color palette.

Not that there weren't some bright spots here and there (more on that later), but isn't Spring about bringing back electric yellow after months of black coats on every back down Broadway? We think so.

Unfortunately, I think we may have to take it as a reflection of the current (and probable future) state of the economy.

Agreed Guest #1, it's probably a reflection of the fact that we won't be able to afford new designer goods every season so may as well make it grey so we can wear it from Summer to Winter.

#2, there were 264 shows over the last 9 days, i'm sure they're going to leave some out, or 100 or so.

guest #3 i can see why guest #2 would bring up christian soriano's collection b/c it was mostly grey and eletric yellow- the two color's that were specifically mentioned. that's the first thing i thought of after reading the post. anyway- before reading the comments i would have written the same thing as guest #1, in fact i'm going to use this in a paper i'm writing for my econ. class.

Gray is good...but let's not do that whole minimalist thing over again! Puleeeez?
