Fashionista:
WHY is are you/the blogosphere silent about the health of the models in the Prada show? The site of some of their midriffs and wobbly knees nearly took my breath away. These girls should NOT be working, they should be recuperating. Usually I am a defender of fashion's use of skinny models in many respects its part of the business- The use skinny/exotic/beautiful models reinforces aspects of the unattainable and drives people to seek out and buy unaffordable luxury goods. Its advertising, plain and simple.
But Prada was OUT OF CONTROL. Sasha, Elise, Cato, Bette and others looks relatively healthy, and still wonderful in the clothes. Yulia Chumack (look 17) Alyona Osmanova --- I think its an outrage that fashion continues to employ/promote/exploit blatantly unhealthy models. The talk about promoting healthy habits and then go ahead encouraging girls to starve themselves.
Furthermore, it was so refreshing to see models of many different ethnicities at the NY shows and I'm at a loss as to why this trend isn't repeated in Milan, especially after the Italian Vogue issue.
