er, Chloe Dao is not nearly old enough to have been a prisoner of war, unless it was in Iraq and something tells me that's really unlikely.

The first poster has it right - it's Missoni. He was held in Egypt during WWII.

So I thought POW meant post office worker, because that's what immediately popped into my head, but then I looked it up and found out it actually means prisoner of war. Just to let you know.

And as for the question? I have no idea. I never know these!

well, due to my 13-year-old lack of fashion history and background designer knowledge I'm guessing YSL because he's the only designer I know for sure that went to war.

Chloe Dao did mention her family being POWs for years on PR...i remember being really impressed how close knit and sweet the whole family was and inspired that they had made it through such an experience. but DVF reference? I'm lost.

Chloe Dao was stuck in a refugee camp in Laos. Thats not really being a prisoner of war.

Guest #22 - WT--? the question doesn't need to imply a difference - POWs, by definition, are not remotely the same as refugees.

POWs are members of military who are captured during the course of legal warfare and held by the enemy.

A refugee is a civilian who has been displaced due to warfare, but is not being held against their will.

Discussion of POWs should not conjure up images of refugees. They are completely different.
