I totally agree with Guest 8's sociological analysis of this situation... but despite gender roles and all of that... it looks ridiculous. Its not aesthetically pleasing. Same thing with the Balenciaga. I am open minded, I love creativity, but... it just didn't look good. If your dad was wearing a Balenciaga floral jacket or a fairy printed Prada top, would you say "Wow dad, you look so great, I'm glad your being creative"? .... i hope not

Guest #8 again. I apologize for the gravity of my comments but some of the words people are using to describe this person are quite extreme. It's all right for any of us to say we're open-minded but when one uses words so extreme as “ridiculous” and “gross” those words have very negative connotations which reveal deeply-seeded gender and social conditioning – as compared to “ill fit” or “badly proportioned” and the like which are rooted in a more objective and sartorial sensibility. I don’t think that just by saying that one is open-minded as a prologue gives one's comments a more unbiased and unprejudiced air to them. We are all deeply affected by gender conditioning, even creative and open-minded people. Shouldn’t we examine ourselves when and why we use such words as “gross” and “ridiculous” in describing this person?
Men's fashion hasn't progressed and evolved much for hundreds of years. I hardly think that a floral print on a typical man’s shirt or a blazer lined in pink silk is revolutionary in men’s fashion but that seems to be what the most men and women find acceptable for a man’s wardrobe. However, women fashion has evolved so much since the Victorian age. Even in women's fashion, we all have to be trained to see and accept changes in proportion, textiles, cut, etc. I think the great and revolutionary fashion designers have done this for women's fashion, now how about for men?
As I man who loves fashion, I can tell you that women are the luckiest as to their clothing options and it is extremely difficult to only fantasize about cradling a couture gown in one’s arms and not to be able to wear it.

um, i think that sometimes when people use the words 'ridiculous' and 'gross' they aren't always revealing "deeply-seeded gender and social conditioning" but rather their opinion of the outfit (in some cases). like, sometimes ill see another girl in a dress that, while it may fit well and be well proportioned is never the less just plain ugly and so saying it is "gross" kinda fits. and maybe some people were just doing the same thing to his outfit, regardless of whether they think he should be wearing those clothes. personally though, i think he looks kinda awesome with that vest (although i'm not a fan of that odd white belt thing hes got on).
