Rumor Mill: Britain Edition

Old School Marc.jpgWe’re a bit hesitant to believe this one - a New York rumor floating around Londontown.

Party word has it that Marc Jacobs is set to open an East Village store.

Apparently, it’ll be a Marc by Marc outpost for the hipster set across town who can’t be bothered with a western trek toward Bleecker.

But again, that’s like us saying Luella’s opening a store in Shoreditch. We’ve been here a week and have no clue where that is.

So to those of you in New York, noticed any construction north of Houston?

shoreditch is right after liverpool street,just keep walking east. that'd be weird, having a luella there. i don't think a lot of people who live there will be able to afford it...or at least they like pretending they can't haha

are you serious? shoreditch is one of the most expensive areas in London, have you heard of Shoreditch House, les trois garcons, boutiques like Start?...

yes i have heard, but thanks for reminding me... around shoreditch there is whitechapel, bethnal green, then hackney...which consists of a lot of immigrants, people that have lived there before it got trendy, and students, a lot of hipsters that do the whole i-cant-afford-expensive-clothes-so-i-buy-vintage thing. the rent prices have only been high these past few years once it started getting trendy. so for every les trois garcons there is there, there are plenty of kebab houses and off licenses, and cheaper places. even if its got expensive shops it doesnt necessarily mean posh people live there, if only a few

Construction? In the East Village? Absolutely none... Honestly, Marc Jacobs is probably the only co. that could afford the hood at this point.

NY Mag reported that this rumor is completely FALSE. They made a call to Marc's people & they said that the story was untrue. Just thought I'd let everyone know!

PR people deny rumors all the time that turn out to be true. We won't know the truth until it happens, or doesn't happen.
