WHICH super cafeteria sort of banned the underlings? Interns are being told by their assistant bosses that the caf is really for "staff only" - guess bejeweled flip-flops in the sight of editors power salading is a bit too unsavory in their designer digs. There's always the snack selection at Starbucks...

Damn it, I guess the lunchroom antics don't stop after high school... luckily my Fashionista cohorts allowed me to sit AND eat with them!

(and for the record, the conde caf grilled cheese and waffle fries are the BEST thing ever)

as an intern at Conde Nast that ate lunch in the cafeteria this afternoon, I can say that NO, this is ridiculous and definitely not Conde Nast.

Actually, I think they prefer interns to eat in the caf since it means they aren't away as long for lunch.

Definitely Hearst!
Thinking about it's Hearst. I've interned there for a for almost a year and NEVER ate in the Cafe. I was told interns eat somewhere else.

Soooo not true about it being Hearst. I'm sorry, but no one there even compares to the ridiculous attitude I've gotten just going on JOB INTERVIEWS at Conde. Half the time this is coming from receptionists. Get real!

I'm a freelancer, and I see interns in the Hearst cafeteria all the time.

I think it depends on the publication at the Hearst tower.
Certain mags don't mind the interns eating in the cafeteria and some mags do mind.

If their interns are nearly as loud as mine then I don't blame them. A lot of my friends went to NYU but when I say "the NYU voice" you know exactly what I mean, don't you?
