Selfridges' Way Cool Windows

SELFRIDGES WINDOW 1.JPGOur hotel is located behind Selfridges.

If you haven’t been to London, Selfridges is like heaven, but with better shoes. They have everything from Chloe bags to beat up t-shirts, blue mascara to gourmet food and soon, a party celebrating Henry Holland for Levi’s.

But today, they have awesome windows, and we thought you’d like to see.

Maybe it’s because when you’re in a different country everything, even McDonald’s, is ten times cooler. Or maybe it’s because you never spot Vivienne Westwood in the windows at Barneys or Bergdorf. Or maybe the window designers just went all out for London Fashion Week.

Or maybe it really is one of the greatest stores on earth.

You choose.

Work is going to be killer for me this week so I'm really glad you guys are in town again to cover the shows since I might even not have time for thelondonpaper coverage(!) Giles tomorrow - woo!

So since Passport Control didn't manage it, I just wanted to say:

Welcome to London! :)

(The Selfridges windows are my favourite; between that store and Liberty I spend as much time outside as I should inside.)

looks like a tacky holiday display; way overdone, too many colors, & trying too hard.

Department stores originated from Britain - so has a long history in window displays etc.
Selfridges indeed is one of the best. But you also should check out Liberty's (one of the oldest), also Fortnum & Mason which is quintessentially English (albeit you won't find the desired array of fashion available as in others)... oh I could go on but shall leave it there.

I didn't know colorful, fun, exciting, creative and original window displays were only reserved for Christmas. HA. Keep up the good work Selfridges, ANY time of year :)
