Streetwalker: Don't Try This at Home

Sep 03, 2008 @ 11:27am

streetwalker pandora small.jpgPandora, Fashion Assistant at Tank

Got Her: at Houston and Orchard

Stalked Her: To be honest, we ran down the street to catch her. She was wearing bright yellow Doc Martens, I mean, how could we not!

Shot Her: Because she was able to effortlessly wear a crop top with mesh and not look trashy. Plus, anyone who can pull off a belly button ring without looking like a Girls Gone Wild wannabe gets an A+.

She Says: "Lately, I've been inspired by this little punk grunge cartoon girl Carrang."

We Say: This proves that it really is all about attitude.

Mesh tee with a belly button ring? Sorry but gut reaction to this girl's outfit is that she looks like a streetwalker :(

It's punk, it's grunge, it's how I dressed in high school in 1993. And of COURSE its trashy. That's the whole point. I like her look but you really can't argue that she doesn't look trashy.

I love the Doc Martens, but I'd have to agree with the majority here--trashy and tacky. That's the message you're putting out there with that outfit. For me, it's the mesh. If she didn't have the mesh and was chilling at some hipster concert, I'd say, sure, why not?

Um, it IS trashy. Is this how it works? as long as u wear one item that's all over the place (in this case, doc martens), fashionista thinks u're the epitome of street style! remember the ill-fitting onesie (sp?), the random florals etc? There's a reason everyone goes to the Sartorialist for street style..

Nice boots, ugly outfit. This looks trashy, cheap, generic and not fashionable at all.
The entire look is not ok, it isnt edgy, it is just vulgar. Why is she showing her belly?
the outfit could look fashion forward is she wear a black blazer and a black tee with those shorts.
Was she trying to emulate Erin Wasson? I bet. But sadly, he did it wrong.

Pandora Lennard. She absolutely rocks.

She (Jasmine Lennard) is the daughter of playboy Brian Lennard, who founded Sacha Shoes, and actress Marilyn Galsworthy, whose mother was one of the original Dior and Chanel models. Lennard has two sisters, Pandora (b. 1988) and Jessica (b. 1983) - named by their mother after three of their father's mistresses: "a tribute to those who didn't make it".[3]

Here you have it.

I'm thinking I'm dating myself, but that outfit is totally L7 circa 1994, one of my favourite bands when I was in Jr high.

The girl is gorgeous, she rocks it and at least she's trying something different (UNLIKE SO, SO MANY OTHERS). Unfortunately, I think it looks a little too out of date.

And to #12 - it's the end of 2008, almost a decade since the 90s ended - it is most certainly not too soon to be bringing the 90s back. The 80s made their come back and plaid, docs and ripped jeans are already making theirs. Better break out your rave pants and soothers!

So funny, I was moving boxes of books yesterday and the phrase 'books are heavy' came into my mind and I realised it was a take on L7's album title 'Bricks are heavy' which me and my friends used to listen to when we were running round clubs in camden and the west end when we were 16! I then thought I wonder if there might ever be a revival of that style...probably a bit too soon as other posts have commented, we are not ready to open the time capsule! And somehow the whole grunge thing was a bit of a weird american slacker youth gen X thing, perhaps more of a U.k style might work...thinking terry christian, the word, Yazz...possibly better.
