Valentino: The Pug Emperor

We knew the upcoming Valentino documentary, Valentino: The Last Emperor, would involve a lot of shots of his six pugs, but we didn’t expect any of it to be so cute.

Check them out sleeping next to him while he sketches the Spring 06 collection, and tell us exactly how Valentino got through his entire career without at least designing doggy rain booties.

We hear the documentary, which is supposed to be in theaters sometime before the end of the year, will include tons of shots of the pugs, including them all lined up getting their teeth brushed by whoever it is Valentino employs to do such things.

Oh yeah, and clothes.

I worked on the Valentino Documentary as an Intern while it was at the Venice Film Festival. The film is great, definetly worth going to see! Its a really great insight into Valentinos life and his work.

Plus the pugs are really cute.

I covered the North American premiere of the film at the Toronto International Film Festival and it certainly is worth seeing. The film covered the years leading up to his retirement and does an excellent job at providing information on the business side of the label.

The screening was terribly exciting as Valentino himself was present-a mere 20 feet away. He also announced after the film that he will now be designing costumes for operas and ballets.
